Re: Gold inserts
Sorry I cannot help out other than to say that those are neat. When I just saw the first picture before scrolling down, I thought they just looked like they were cooked with castor oil.

Re: Gold inserts
I plan on machining them down to fit other engines unless I can find out what engine it's for.

Re: Gold inserts
I think that the glow plugs are for the McCoy 5 Red head that is a .049 engine . I think that they are some what hard to find and might be worth selling or trading to someone that could use them .

Re: Gold inserts
Agreed-these are glow head inserts for the beam mount front induction McCoy 049 glow-from the mid 50s...and the radial beam mount McCoy 5 glow from a couple of years later. They came in both plain and 'gold' versions...AFAIK there is no difference in performance or compression ratio between the two versions...but i'm open to correction on that aspect....IIRC the standard McCoy 1/4-32 glowplugs were also coloured gold around that time...

Re: Gold inserts
Thanks all for the great information confirming the application for these glow inserts. I'll now be in search of one of these engines. Talk about the horse before the cart!
