Gilbert .11 head gasket help?
Guys, I lost the head gasket to mine - would one of you be kind enough to measure the thickness of yours, please?
I'll cut one from Al.
Thanks!

I'll see how I go. Will have to dig one out & pull the head.

Just for giggles, I found my "good" calipers and measured the new copper gasket for the Gilbert .074. My reading on the new and the used gasket both were .0025. I'm not sure if there is a difference in thicknesses between the 07 and 11. We'll wait for Rod to measure his.

Thanks for that info, Rene.
I think Coke can is ~.003" so if the .11 is same, I'll be good to go.

Re: Gilbert .11 head gasket help?
Using a micrometer rather than calipers I measured a used one at 0.0035". Don't have a new one to try.
I have a new unrun one so I tried to get the head off of that one, but it was stuck fast.
The .11 gasket is probably the same as a Fox .09 Rocket as the heads screw on the same. The only source of gaskets I've found for the .074 are Cox .049 timing shims. They are thicker than needed, but still do the job fine, unless you're looking for ultimate power. (Don't choose a Gilbert if you want ultimate power.) I haven't had need to find an alternative for the .11s as they rarely need dismantling compared to its smaller sibling.

OK, Rod, .003" Coke can should do then.
I was bench running outdoors, the head burned out so I removed it, before putting on the new head I tried to blow away a bit of trash, out flew the gasket and the leaves ate it.
Thanks a bunch, guys!
