Any ideas what I did wrong? It could have been a sloppy mix proportion or maybe it had exceeded its shelf life? Maybe whatever I used to clean the parts (don’t remember) wasn’t compatible?
Anyone else seen this?

Al,
I have seen the "green goo" I used JB weld to repair a sending unit inside a gas tank on my truck. I was in a time crunch and needed to make a road trip the next day and I didn't have time to let the JB fully cure. The gasoline reacted with the JB and it never fully cured.
I am not sure if that was the case in your experience. I have noticed that temp and humidity sometimes lengthen the cure time.

Hi Ron, I bet that was the problem. I don’t remember the details but probably did the repair one day and flew the next.cribbs74 wrote:Big Al wrote:Guys, my experience with JB Weld wasn’t that great. The pic of the olympic rear drum valve on Martin's site has this type of repair.
Jason,
The OD is 15/32. I wonder if they make aluminum tubing with a 15/32 ID?

Not sure on the tubing. I could turn you one. Problem is I dont have a TD 15 yet to test fit it.

Beautiful job. I'm tempted to re-enforce mine before it cracks.
So, was that 15/32 ID?

I was told the ID was .459, keep in mind that is a .15 body.

nice
Very nice repair I was gonna suggest. In plastic Drilling tiny holes at the end of your cracks stops a crack in its track. also gives a bigger surface for whatever adhesive you use Jb weld has always worked pretty well for me but I like to rough a surface up REALLY well Also its a good idea to carve a v into your stuff with something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pcs-4mm-Cone-Shaped-Nose-Diamond-Mounted-Point-Burr-/390396328196?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae56f3904
I use http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOLID-CARBIDE-MICRO-DRILLS-FITS-DREMEL-JEWELRY-MODEL-RAILROAD-CRAFTS-/180834821595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1a9865db
I generally use those drills to drill holes for Babbington Waste oil burners however for small plastique
I also use them for nail Avulsions
From youtube somewhere not my nail but i just drill by hand to release pressure
Thanks for The 1+`s

Thanks for the tip, I've never done that. DUH!engine049 wrote:Very nice repair I was gonna suggest. I have to have those bits. Maybe I'll get those for my birthday present if the price doesn't climb too high. They're probably easy enough to find elsewhere, like Grainger, maybe.

Good idea! For both situations...... Lost 3 fingernails in the last year. Next time I will be drilling them out!

Re: Carb body repair
It works. I've done it with a red hot pin. I would torch the drill bit to sterilize it first too.

About the red hot pin I might be concerned that the red hotness might cauterize the blood from escaping Ill try this method next time I smash my finger blue lol

Ba BLAM is right. Free shipping. I'm going to have a hard time controlling myself shopping here. A few bad feedback comments, buyer beware, but I'll have to give him a try.

300-600 transactions per month. Sometimes you just can`t please everyone... I have been able to but its been tough 1'ce I wrote handwritten letter requesting revision. I got negged for a stupid microwave i had written a reserve in the description in and then when they revised they changed to neutral I even offered to send the dude some free hotwheel car. GRRRRRR
I look at Bernies feedback and know how amazing his customer Service is and people still neg him. I remember when he got his first Neg ever. He was not a happy camper.

He has the usual rather inflated idea of International shipping costs though, he'd want 3 times the cost of the drills to ship them here! and I get engines from the States for $5 -$10 shipping!

Re: Carb body repair
Well I just tried JB Weld on my TEE DEE's Carb body, after sitting for 30 years I pulled it out started cleaning it up to fire it up, the needle was loose so I tightened up the carb and I heard it crack on the top edge at the back right threw the threads for the Carb vent, sanded it up and put a little J B's on it seems to be holding but I really haven't got this thing fired up yet, she's being stuborn runs for a half min and stops, wondering if i's the crack, Like I said another post the old plastic red Cox tank doesn't seem to be as strong as it use to be either.
Bought a new carb housing to replace this if it doesn't work.

Jobe:
We've had an extensive discussion of this very topic that might be found in the search file. You may need to use several different "serch words" or combinations to find it.
IIRC, the J-B Weld "fix" is temporary at best. The new part is available from Matt for $6.95, not sure about the other vendors.

If you need to search this site, you get better results if you use Google Advanced Search, type "coxengineforum.forumakers.com" into the Domain search box and then enter your search terms. All results will be from this forum. Same with RCG, RCU or any other site for that matter.

That looks familiar........
Think it would be possible to do .010/.020 ones? Perhaps too fiddly?
