Cox Cylinders darker system?

Cox Cylinders darker system?
I have a couple with rather pale black cylinders. Both have strong compressuion and should run well but faded color needs to be made darker. Years ago I used some gun blueing but wasn't that good. My friend made guns and bought one uncromed to get old time look. It was a .38 special Derringer. I do not want to harm bore and maybe someone has done this before.
Thanks,Dan

Re: Cox Cylinders darker system?
Dan,
Funny, I use gun blue solution all the time and it works real well. Some solutions are stronger than others. Take a look online and see whats out there. I don't soak mine I just wipe it on let it sit and then rinse the excess off. the longer you let it sit the darker it gets.

Re: Cox Cylinders darker system?
I don't know about bluing them, but maybe you could make a plug to keep the chemical out of it. Jam a tight fitting piece of automotive fuel hose into it. Then clamp it shut with a screw through it and a couple of washers. If you get it to fit right, the screw clamp will help expand the hose to help it seal the exhaust ports. Or fill the cylinder with epoxy, and remove it later with acetone(or whatever dissolves epoxy best). I don't think acetone will hurt the blued finish. All this, assuming I understood the question.
EDIT: never mind. Cribbs answered it.
