Put the monokote on piece of class and cut wavy stripes with a sharp razor, then iron on as usual.

I like the flame template, I saved it. Whenever I get that far along on the Flitestreak I need to figure out how to make the colors. I want to stick to the original design. They have Monokote trim strips at the hobby shop, that may be my answer.

I have cut monokote before on a cricut machine. Used it to cut some skull and crossbone patterns. It works out good but the knife has to be sharp. Maybe your mom or wife has one for scrapbooking.
