Now lets get on those TD .15 drive plates!
nah, I doubt you'll sell many .15 drive plates. Although, I do see many TD .15s with messed up drive plates on eBay! I only see nice drive plates on the real nice TD .15s.

you think they chose a material that was too soft for that powerful engine?

Somewhat soft. I usually see marks from pliers, any Cox drive plate will get marks from pliers.

Would make 'em if people would buy them....seems to be the problem these days though.
GermanBeez:
The nice thing about the aluminum though is it just sheers onto the steel crank. Downside is obviously what you mentioned, plier marks.

Re: Cox 049/051 Tee Dee Driveplates Available
That would be me. I have a MkII .15 that has plier marks on every single exterior part of the engine.
The good thing is it's still a tight motor and the case and cylinder aren't marked up past passable and the intake assembly is flawless. Wrong needle though...it won't bottom out in the valve body. I'm wondering if its the wrong needle.
It's been drilled for pressure. Yep, even the venturi was enlarged. Measures right on to what the TeeDee instructions tell you to drill it out to.
I'll post a pic only because the plier marks are impressively deep on this victim.

I have already sanded out the collar and have a new backplate and glowhead for it. No spinner, prop screw, drive plate or thrust washer yet, but then its done.
It is sad the .049 TD did not evolve into this layout. Now that would have been neat. A gold-case TeeDee .049

Its a .15 size motor so they used a .15 size pliers on it. Looks horrid in person when you can see how deep the sharp gouges actually are on it.

I have a bunch of used and abused little engines!
Check out the pliers marks on the drive plates of these engines! http://www.coxengineforum.com/t373p20-cox-engine-bargains#5523
If you seen my TD .15 in person, it is not far from your MkII.

Wow, some serious plier marks! I usually don't even bother trying to fix those when rebuilding engines anymore, just replace them now.

I currently don't have any replacement driveplates for a narrow neck crankcase. The one on there will physically work but once I make the engine look like new, I'm going to need a new drive plate. I'm waiting for a new TD .15 drive plate to show up on eBay again, the last one ended up selling for $30.

Re: Cox 049/051 Tee Dee Driveplates Available
Since I don't own a Medallion .15, other then the anodizing, what is the difference between the Medallion drive plate and the TD .15 drive plate. I would have no issue in buying a Medallion .15 drive plate from Cox International (sorry Matt) http://coxengines.ca/product.php?productid=447 and anodizing it gold like the original.

There would be no difference except for the spline not being in it I believe. I thought about that also but my amount of parts that I need anodized isn't that much but the cost is high to have it done.

Maybe everyone that needs parts anodised in one colour should put the parts in one lot and pay once that way the cost would be lower for everyone.

I usually modify the small no drag driveplates that I have here on the lathe to fit the earlier ones.
