Reed Speed Results!

Reed Speed Results!
First, let me thank our sponsors Cox International and EX Model Engines for there generous donations. Let me also thank everyone who participated in building and flying and made this such a success.
Times posted are the average of two judges. Speed was calculated at a line length of 43 feet (13.106 meters), I added a foot for arm length,on this site:
http://www.flycl.co.uk/control_line_speed_calculator.htm
Let me say up front that I have recused myself of prize eligibility as I feel accepting a prize as CD would be a conflict of interest.
So without further ado,
There were six entries, listed here sixth to first.
In sixth place, with a time of 35.56 for a speed of 51.78mph we have batjac and September Fury:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJiY-o18p4Q
In fifth place, with a time of 34.96 for a speed of 52.66mph, it's Cribbs74 with his Laird Super Solution:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jVruQyH2SHQ
For fourth place, at 34.53 for a speed of 53.32, Navion34 represents the Old World with his Polecat:
https://youtu.be/bseaBB0sU8I
In third place, with a time of 32.125 making 57.31mph, RknRusty with his Mustang:
https://youtu.be/f-QWRcLS2jI
In second place, at 31.33 with a speed of 58.77mph it's JpVelo and the F2G Super Corsair:
https://youtu.be/ttddX6qZjWM
And in first place, with a time of 30.23, for a top speed of 60.9mph, it's the blushing JpVelo and the recently rebuilt Miss Ashley ll:
https://youtu.be/5YZN5EX8wG4
As I said, I'm not accepting prizes. So we have RknRusty 1st, Navion34 2nd, Cribbs77 3rd, and Batjac 4th.
Rusty, Cribbs, and Navion will each receive a $50 gift certificate from cox international. Batjac is taking home a high performance Black Lynx .049 from EX Midel Engines.
Congratulations to all of you, PM me your addresses and I will get your prizes on their way to you.
See you in November for round two!

Re: Reed Speed Results!
Thanks, Jim for being a great CD, and for exhibiting endless patience for us slow builders and last minute flyers, all the while whipping our asses all over the circle!
And thanks, Matt and Bernie for supporting our contest with everything we need to go fast and for supplying such generous prizes.
Also thanks to Larry Renger and Paul Gibeault for not laughing publicly at our fumbling attempts to get these balsa buckets airborne.
Rusty

Re: Reed Speed Results!
Thanks Jim,
I appreciate your efforts in this venture. This was challenging for me both as a builder and an engine tuner.
It's one thing to build a quick engine on the ground and another in the air. Even with good tach numbers my plane was much slower than expected. That could be due to the airplane or the fact that I went too lean. I also noticed that all the planes flew well with a single wing. Mark's plane was a touch rich yet it still flew very fast!
Either way it was a learning experience.
I know you are not accepting prizes, so please accept my certificate as a gift from me for your efforts and results.
Ron

Re: Reed Speed Results!
I could probably try guessing Jim's last name but it may be quicker if it is divulged to me Need to put his name on our side of the paperwork.
Re: Reed Speed Results!
I was hoping you knew that's why I was being so wishy washy. So..... I think it's Velo, but I could be horribly wrong. If I am please accept my humble apology Jim.

Re: Reed Speed Results!
Woo Hoo! I'm Number Six!!! I'm Number Six!!! I'm Number Six!!!
Well, at least I ended up exactly where I figured I'd be. But, as I stated when this started, I knew I didn't have a chance of being #1, I just did this for the fun of it. But the prize is an unexpected delight. It'll be great for my November entry. I've already started drawing it out...
Thanks to Jim for doing this for us all. And thanks to Matt for the donation. I'll put it to good use. Maybe next time I can come in next-to-last.
