Yep, i think there close but not the same.

The T-38 photo is from eBay, i had a chance to bid on it, but was bidding on a Wen-Mac XL600 at same time. I wanted the Wen-Mac more and thought I could always get a t-38 later...still have yet to come across another one!!!!

WD40 is not high on my hit parade, but I have a can or two laying around, doesn't every body.  But if you have luck with it cleaning exteriors, I will have to give it a try.

CA with a "kickker".  What's that, a little PBR?

I had great luck freeing a couple of really stuck Gilbert .049 pistons by soaking with Remoil on top of the piston for a couple of weeks then tapping downward with a wooden dowel the diameter of the cylinder.  Got lucky once twisting the cylinder off a piston enclosed Cox .049 without destroying the con-rod or piston, but I had heated it well first.

Sorry, i meant the WD-40 (Stoddard solvent) for cleaning up the surface of the engine, i like Windex or DAWN Power Dissolver in a blue spray bottle for plastic, or brake fluid for decal removal, heavy oil, etc.
"Kicker" is a spray accelerator for super glue, commonly sold in hobby shops. The super glue joints are not real strong but will work for display models, if i was gonna fly one i'd use plastic cement and some type of brace and clamp to hold pieces in alignment untill glue sets.

PBR? I still prefer the High Life, the champagne of bottled beer!

..it's funny how trendy beer can be, i got a buddy who runs his parents restaurant/bar and they're all about the latest IPA and how they refer to Miller and Bud as "lawnmower" beer, yet they have PBR on tap?????

I was gonna correct you and say it was Old Milwaukee that made Milwaukee famous, but i goggled it...and we're both wrong, it was Schlitz!

Over here in PA in the 60s/70s Schmidts of Philadelphia was THE beer. Came in a red and gold can. I was an unsponsored advertiser with my Spirit of Philadelphia.

Sclitz-Schmidt's lol!
Trendy is right. PBR used to be a decent, cheap, go-to beer that
almost faded into oblivion. All of a sudden, they're the new hip
beer on the block. Funny stuff.
I'm a "Silver Bullet" fan. Works for me, and doesn't break the bank.
Also, gets the job done. Beer Cheers

Yes, a lot of us are waiting to see you get this dude going. Me since 2010! First of all, find a 10cc Macs pipe and that'll allow the Rossi to sing. I think that one is a 6.5 pipe.

That Starfighter looks very nice in your case Mark. Oohh that TD 1 under it. I dream about one of those someday! Boy you do a nice building job. My Spirit was a Miles Reed Fun Fly ship, a modified Kwik-Fli. We kept these as light as possible. I used main gear instead of trike (funny, now pattern ships are back to main gear). There is the rear intake HP 61 in it.

Thanks, the whole bottom row of that case are "restores" the TD-1 and TD-2 were both eBay deals that had fuzzy photos, oily, dusty, bad descriptions, etc., all the things that can deter buyers.

What kind of radio did you use?

As a kid in the early seventies, i remember i used to study model airplane mags cover to cover and dream of having a full house pattern job, with a huge .60 engine!

Chris, i was telling my kid last night in fact, i think i'll look at some new glasses so i can see better and maybe do some flying this summer, but then again that darn disc golf keeps getting in my way, went out yesterday, trudging thru the snow.

Mark,
I started with a 3 tube WAG Tone single channel built from an Ace kit, Esquire, Bonner Vari comp, Fox 15 steelfin with 10-3 1/2 prop. Later I used the Ace Kraft 3V relayless xistor rcv, Jr Falcon, 1/2A Skylane, and some originals. When I graduated from college and got a job, I got a World Engines 10 channel reed outfit, Debolt Pshooter with a Fox 59 RC; read OVERPOWERED! Quickly built a more docile ship with a McCoy 19 RC. I finally built a Heathkit GD 19 RC set, the one with the Kraft sticks and KPS9 servos. I used to fix RC sets for buddies. The IF xformers had very fine wire that often broke in a crash or from vibration. The Heath used ceramic transfilters and eliminated that problem. Also, old propo servos has sometimes open resistor feed back or semi open pots; dirt was a problem. The KPS 9s used capacitor feedback and eliminated that problem. I used that until work stopped me from flying around 1980. I also had a Kraft 3 channel brick for my sailplanes. When I retired in 2004 and got back into RC, I bought a Futaba. I still use it. Maybe 3 years ago I bought a Spectrum when they had a super free receiver deal. I use it for ships I take to other fields and fly ins.

I don't think anyone should have to suffer all the pains of old RC. It was very hard to fly rudder only successfully and reeds weren't much better. Proportional changed all that. You could fly a brick on ukie and with propo darned near on RC! I don't miss the old stuff! Finally got my Starfighter...maybe two? - Page 2 5801gw10

This thread is just sensory overload, I love looking at all the old models.

I had an old reed system, never could get it to work. So I bought a Blue Max radio kit, remember those? Called them Blue Max but all the components were black. I wired it myself and was amazed when it all worked, even all four servos. I couldn't do it today, hands shake to bad to solder those small connections, but it was fun at the time.

Ahh the reeds. The reed receivers had a coil mounted under a set of magnetic reeds of various lengths. Each reed would vibrate when an audio signal of its resonant frequency was applied to the coil. When the reed vibrated it closed an electrical circuit to make a servo run in ONE direction. So each servo needed 2 signals, one for each direction. A typical 10 channel out fit had 5 servos, throttle, aileron, rudder, elevator, and elevator trim. The longest reed that vibrated at the lowest frequency controlled the signal for down elevator. An engine could cause a vibration at this reed's resonant frequency with unfortunate results.

I always wondered about that low frequency vibration from the engine and it's possible result.

I didn't start flying R/C until 2008, I flew C/L Stunt for 40 years. I have two Futaba 72 mhz radios, but don't use them anymore. My Hobby People power glider was a 2 channel Ace Commander from the late 2000's but the design was from, When? ... 60's sometime? Neat way to learn, I just flew it like a powered free flighter until I realized I was turning it the right way every time, then I built an RCM Trainer with ailerons and throttle with my T6XAs, then a Kaos with an Airtronics SD-10G. It what was around and available and I knew the names of the designs. Love Classic stuff. Love the 2.4Ghz systems, never had the slightest reception problem. I'm going to fly my EU-1A this season and fly a couple of Classic Pattern contests with it, blackhead Rossi and all, 2.4 of course.
