Re: Swarm of Space Bug Jrs
Broke down the blue one today, looked to have been lightly run or maybe not at all. Its the older issue with small dia. head and the crankcase has no lip.
All the gaskets were in place but the reed worked poorly with the suck, blow test, doubt it would run well. Flips over with a nice pop. Overall a nice one.
I noticed the tank screws are isolated from the fuel chamber unlike the Bees. Next the yellow Bug Jr.
The backplate has a 3 etched on to the inside and three hash marks etched on above the 3.
You can see the three hash marks in this photo

Re: Swarm of Space Bug Jrs
I do not have a blue one. The first new engine I got was a white/natural one back in the mid fifties.

I am very envy of you , I need the blue one myself to complete the collection , what would bee the safest way to clean those plastic tanks though? The yellow one I am waiting on cost me a mint but has got real good color , my red and white /clear one need attention . Eric

My red tanked Bug cost me $3.95 new, still have it in the plastic case. I have since added a white one, need blue and yellow.
That was a great buy on those four.

Re: Swarm of Space Bug Jrs
I was lucky to find them all in one lot, they all seem to be in decent shape. For cleaning the plastic I been using Goof-Off for plastic, works well.
Just went through the yellow one and it was pretty clean, it has the cylinder with the large dia. head. Like the blue one the reed worked poorly.
The yellow backplate has a 4 etched in it. It flips over with a nice pop.

Re: Swarm of Space Bug Jrs
That was a heck of a deal and we somehow missed the listing lol. We have a similar lot for sale, albeit a "bit" more expensive:
http://coxengines.ca/product.php?productid=1168&cat=0&page=
and have sold at least a dozen singles (used) for $195 the past few months.
