Ian, your title states "BB". I'm guessing this must just have a single bearing at the rear of the crank. Nose certainly looks too small. In fact, the entire engine looks pretty much like the earlier .15's that ran a plain bearing.

Yes, that looks more like the latest SS15 S engine?
The earlier ones had a dedicated muffler (in terms of size) while in the later years they have settled for a common (larger) muffler with different bore holes on it, in order to suit several engine sizes.

I really like this and the other ABC engines from Enya, they are usually labeled with CX, but on the SS .15 is it a well hidden treasure. Only Enya would be too modest to not advertise their true ABC technology...

Thanks. chaps. I got the boxes muddled up.

I have quite a few Enya engines and this is the SS 15 S with the "universal" muffler. The muffler will fit the 09. It is plain bearing.

I got it because the previous owner couldn't get it started - luckily he had no patience and didn't ruin it.

This is an ABC engine and it was very, very tight. Easy to get it to fire but not to run.

This was one of those that needed warming up (hot air gun around the cylinder head) and then careful running in. It now starts easily. I have found this with quite a few ABC engines - need a little TLC.

I spent part of today oiling some of my collection and wasn't careful with re boxing them.

Darn, Enya makes pretty engines that run like the dickens.  

Here is mine, a .15 CX-S ABC Schnuerle with BB's front and rear but it doesn't look as nicely finished as the ones pictured.  According to the specs it makes the same hp (0.52) as the TN (Throttle) while weighing less which is pretty logical.

Bobby Brooks has them at $115.00 new. I have yet to see a used one for sale.

I truly love .15 size engines. I really don't know why. I have all kinds of .15's old to new. The major problem with them in control line is that the major  designers just didn't make models for these engines. The old designs for .15 size engines fly extremely poor using modern .15 bushed engines, a ball bearing variant would make it even worse. One of my favorite engines is the Fox .15 BB. I have about 15 of those engines with all kinds of different mods to each one. They worked great for .15 combat. I remember back in the 70's when the r/c  ARF foamies were coming big into the market that the .15 sized engines really had a place. Frequenting the r/c field nearby here, I noticed that it's quite rare even to see a IC engine being used and when you do, the smallest is a .60. Makes you wonder what happened. GLow is "Dead" essentially for the r/c flyers. They fly big 3D stuff and when IC engines are called upon, it's strictly gasoline. A gallon of fuel costs less than $3 where a gallon of glow is $25+. This still doesn't explain the absence of the small engines. It just seems as though most people shy away from them. Ken

Bob, the engine in that box is incorrect. What he shows there is is the Fox .15X which is hated by most. I love them actually. A few from the west made a event which is what is known as the " Fox Hurl". The Fox .15 schnuerle is pictured on the box and instruction manual. There were a few different versions of the .15. The first being the steelfin, followed by the .15x, there were also a few specialty versions Duke threw in there. The next versions were the coffin back door engines which is what the .15 bb was. The coffin back version was made in a bushed variant and a ball bearing. The bushed engines were to fulfill a event that used plain bushing engines. They were down on power compared to the BB engines by about 1200 rpm's. Great engines though.Unfortunately, the leadalloy used in the cylinders didn't fair too long if you really pushed them. They would go like stink though.

Looking at it closer (I own no Fox engines) the front end looks decidedly different from the box and instructions as you noted.  Also it's a little crazy, a baffled C/L R/C engine with some sort of adjustment on the feed line?

Chin up, there are plenty NIB .15BB engines out there. I use one on my Shark .15 and it pulls like crazy. Might not have been the best choice as it's pretty nose heavy.

I have several TBR PAW 2.5cc diesels plus Oliver Tigers (some of which are combat tuned). Glows are never my first choice but I do like Enyas.

I have the Enya 15 diesel

I share Ken's love of .15 engines - they were the most popular size for control line in the 60s - (you had to be extremely rich for RC!). I have may 15s of that era but it is difficult to get mufflers for them. My second brand new engine was an Enya 15 glow.

After contributing to this post, I went down for a peek of them. I find them fascinating. My father equally shared a love for them but he used them more than I did. I have a OS MAX III steelfin which is an absolute pussycat of a .15 size engine for it's age. What a neat engine. Keep them coming Ian, they're certainly cool. Ken
