Dynamic Models Inc. McLaren
I think many of use had forgotten how much the sudden collapse of the slot car market hurt the hobby industry, Aurora, Cox, even Dynamics...
Here's a early 70's Dynamics McLaren 1/8 scale R/C car i sold on eBay for a buddy several years ago. These were pretty pricey back in the day, but it was a fledgling industry at the time and if you wanted it you made it or paid for it, I think the engineering on this thing is pretty cool!

Yes, that 1/8 scale McLaren is a beauty, the suspension alone is breath-taking.
The slot car faze faded fast, but every Christmas during it's hay-day a set was under the Christmas tree. Tyco, Strombecker. I remember being amazed at the slot car parlors with multi car slots side by side, hills, etc.. Then overnight they went away.
Model railroads have staying power though.

Did he buy the MCE at "Larry's Hobby Shop" in NY? Cool Ad. The McLaren chassis is an exquisite piece of model engineering. Lieven's photo of the heatsink-head for the engine is mahhvelous! I think the current full-scale sports a BMW V12.

Hey Roddie, Larry's was my "go to" back in the 70s-80s.
They moved down the road, changed owners and name,
and became a Hobico shop. No longer my "go to"
A few months ago, I asked about getting some of the
reformulated Cox fuel, and the guy got all wishy-washy
about quantities and shipping. Oh well, I tried. Thank
God for the internet.

I found the ad in old model airplane mag, but who knows anything is possible, i'd think they sell a few thru their ads.
Re: Dynamic Models Inc. McLaren
That was the days when it took good old dad half a day to set up the track in the living room floor , and was ran every day for a month before it had to bee removed i had a HO with the mountains and double loop man i loved that set Aurora i think ? Got my son a short slot and big HO set few years ago want to get it out again but it takes up a lot of space and time in the floor There is was a place about 20 miles from here that had a dedicated place for slots to run , never been in there , dont have a car that big Those are some beautiful looking cars for sure and is a shame it faded the way it did . There is also a train building a older gentleman owns 25 miles away , i didn't get to see that either because i was at his hobby shop down the road looking for supplies. I should take the time and go by there and check it out !
