Platter 15 And ManWin Trainer

Platter 15 And ManWin Trainer
I will not take a lot of time, but just wanted to share a couple of pictures of recent builds I just completed. First is a Platter 15, but will be powered by an Enya 09 CL engine. Second is a ManWin Trainer that I built for someone. No build details as they were both quick and exactly as per the design/plans. Both are Coroplast and should fare very well for the inevitable, as my two ManWin planes have hit the dirt many times with NO damage except the 'firewall' slightly bending, and the odd propeller. A quick bend back and away we go. Anyways, enjoy.

Both very neat, but I like the Enya powered design better. Eager to know how it fly's.

Re: Platter 15 And ManWin Trainer
Thank you. I am interested to see how the Enya powered bird does as well. Now I just have to play the waiting game till all this white stuff disappears! And with this great big beautiful Christmas present on its way here from Colorado, it may take a bit longer this spring for it all to disappear.
But, the ManWin should do just fine as my other two are a ball to fly, and those house Babe Bee's, this one got a Black Widow!

Re: Platter 15 And ManWin Trainer
I am just going to update this thread and bring it back up with a few new pictures for wingchicken. As I had mentioned it to him and he had messaged me about it. These are a bit more detailed to aid in him hopefully building one. I highly recommended it as it is both easy to build, foolproof, and well, pretty much indestructible. While yes, I agree that there are better planes to learn on, this one is just fine as well. A bit slower and heavier, but just as fun. I have had lots of luck with them and people who had never flown before.
This is just a top view picture of one of my back-up planes.

This shows 3 screws screwed into the wingtip for counterweight, and are necessary. Do not forget to add these. Can also see the duct tape I used to 'wrap' the leading edge.

This is the leadout guide on the top of the wing. Lighter ran over both parts to be glued. Followed by a quick wipe with alcohol and allowed to dry prior to gluing together with dollar store 5 minute epoxy.

This is the elevator hinge cut out between flutes on the bottom side. Only the bottom side needs to be cut out. I removed small sections on top to help make it a bit more responsive, and it works, but not necessary.

It is sold in home improvement centers (hardware stores) as sign material. However, political candidate and realtor yard signs use the same stuff too. If someone is done with the sign, you might be able to get the material for free.

Ok. Don’t think I’ll get a chance to build a model kit since I have school next week.

Re: Platter 15 And ManWin Trainer
The Man Wins go together pretty quick. Not even any glue. GGhost... Cabbage Patch? See if I can get these pics up again. Got one Man Win with a TD .049, and now with a Norvel,

that I made a long time ago before the real ones were invented. Made another one for an AP .15 that copied and FAI combat plane, but later cut it down with tin snips to match the Jr. Satan. They both flew fairly fast, but did kind of mushy loops.

As in my PM to you wingchicken, you can also look for a local sign shop. They often have cut-offs which they usually throw out or if you ask will give them to you.
