Thimble-Drome TD-1 Airplane
I was cleaning out my attic and came across a old box with a Thimble-Drome TD-1 Airplane.I think I bought it in new the very early 60's. I was wondering if there is anywhere with parts still available. I still have the original 2 piece fuselage but the engine mounting firewall is broken off. It appears that I purchased a new fuselage which is in ok shape but does have some signs where I repaired it in the lower half. The canopy is ok except the right hold down tab is broken off.

If only we were all so lucky...
Your only avenue(s) are here and ebay. There are other control line forums and you may find something through them.
How broken is the firewall? Is this something you plan on flying again? Welcome to the forum!

A TD-1 is something that most Cox fanatics can only dream of. There's little chance of finding anything except for the Space Bug engine and engine parts, but these are still pretty rare. Cox International have new gaskets and maybe the prop spinner-nut, but not sure there's anything else out there.

Re: Thimble-Drome TD-1 Airplane
snakepit,
I hope you realize how much you are making us old guys drool. I saw those in the early fifties in my LHS but at $19.95 it was way out of my young reach. If you are going to sell it, check out what they are going for, some bring big bucks.
If you intend to restore it, don't fly it. Some guys have reported the plastic as being very brittle. Perhaps more of the guys who actually have them will report in. If you are like many of us you will fly it.
Good luck with it either way.
