Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
It was the Golden Bee and CO2 motor that got me. I wonder if those CO cylinders are still avaiable? An ebay search didn't turn up any that didn't have an engine involved.
There is a whole package of rubber band metal twisters (think a straight wire with a loop on the end) that were used on those powered balsa gliders that you could buy for a buck. Remember those? Some were rubber band powered, others just gliders. I went through a bunch when I was a kid and when my kids were growing up. Some collector somewhere must have them stashed away. Maybe they still sell them, but I haven't see one for many years.
Also the card(s) of many OK Cub? glow heads. Lot's to look at. I may share some of it.

Bob , check the dimensions of the existing CO2 cartridge, if there is one in the holder.
I've a small stash of Daisy co2 cartridges and a few from a whip cream dispenser, which are smaller than the daisy. The critical dimension is going to be the OD of the neck that goes up into the holder. I know the whip-cream ones are shorter and the neck is smaller and won't fit my daisy pistol. If you want to try a couple let me know.

Thanks Rene, I will check and let you know. One thing for sure the engine won't be castor locked.

Yes, those engines are keepers. I used to have golden bees, some NIB, sold them all years ago. I have to replenish my supply.

Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
Got the stuff. Some junk but the majority I'm quite happy with especially the .29 and .60 sized O&R's, both have incorrect NVA's but the .60 is a sparker and it's complete. Good news is the O&R fuel tank I got a week ago fits the .29. All items nicely packed.
I have no idea as to what the item in the foreground is:
Best part of this is the 1936 Wheat penny.
Some Cox parts:

Item in foreground, might be a spring operated piercing tool for C02 powered race cars? Does the item pull apart and the latch hold it open (cocked). Is there a sharp point on
The other end? My quess?

Bob. You mentioned in your original post OK Cub glow heads. Is that them on the red cards? If so, they look small. Maybe .024?? I might be interested in a couple if they turn out to be correct and available.

Turned to be be glow plugs for that O&R .60 Rod. If you need a couple I would gladly send them to you.
What I first thought was a fuel tank for a Cox model is actually a fuel tank for the O&R engines. Lots of O&R parts in this lot. The contents appear to be from an old Hobby Shop combined with a sometimes engine collector.

WOW, an old-style glowhead new in package. Not bad! That's the hard-to find smaller-threaded version for the very early engines.

Funny thing is (to me)
When I see the various odd lot sales, many times I grin to myself---- expecting Bob to eventually post his most recent find of treasures... I am usually confident if there is some obscure ancient Enya I will see it again!...
I too am very curious about the odd tool
Bob please explore this some more with a series of more photos...

The CO2 motor is cool! Just throwing this out there.. I wonder if a little torch like this one could be used as a speed-control?

Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
Bob, now that you've taken it apart I am certain that it is a spring loaded piercing tool for punching a small hole in the seal of a C02 cylinder. The lock nut makes the striking point adjustable for the depth of the punch which would make a larger hole the further the needle point was injected into the cylinder (seal) neck.

Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
Thanks Rene, sounds plausible. But wouldn't that just release all the Co2? I thought there must be some kind of needle inside the housing to pierce the seal when the turn screw is applied. When I tried to run it with the air compressor I blew that black rubber seal out, went back in fine.
I was glad to find this Austin Craft four way. I have one just like it, but it's never around where I can find it, makes me resort to adjustables. Wonder if it's the one that splits up the seam like Ken has found.
I lightly boiled these Cox .049's then disassembled. Cleaned in Simple Green and hot water, blew out/oiled and reassembled. Ready to run then a better cleaning. Early thin wall with the stunt tank (whoops, just noticed, no stunt tank) and a #2 Golden Bee. Both with copper stars.

Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
Bob, you have two separate items. One,the motor and attached co2 power cylinder. That cylinder is held in place by the thump screw at the bottom of the holder. When you insert a new sealed co2 cartridge and tighten the thumb screw you pierce the cylinder and allow co2 to flow to the engine , I assume the flyer would just hold the prop stationary like a rubber powered job and flip the prop on release to flight. The reason you didn't get satisfaction from trying a air compressor to operate the engine is:
CO2 motors are designed to be charged with liquefied CO2 at about 850 - 900 psi. As the liquid CO2 boils (at about minus 80 Deg C) it releases lots of gas, which is what gives these motors relatively long run times.
The other item (item in for Ground) is a piercing tool to puncture the seal on the C02 cylinder for immediate release of a "jet" powered FF model or more common a Co2 powered car. Either drag or teather. I found a u tube vide of a CO2 Powered Pinewood derby car...didn't find any references to the tool you have, it maybe too far in the vintage category to turn up in a Google search. Can you read the name stamped on the barrel?

Re: More ebay grab bag stuff
Thanks for your help Rene.
The bottom line reads SHOOTER, Top is much smaller. What I can make out is -- maybe velliend. Took it apart.
You can pull out the plunger and lock it.
What I thought may be a part of it turns out to be a nozzle for a propane torch. About the only none related part in the group..
