All of you really knowledgeable people here, correct me if you will.  But it seems that you can track the progress and demise of Cox and their products by zip code.  From top to bottom, older to newer, Santa Anna to Minneapolis and beyond.

And that little fella way in the back packaged/marketed? in Penrose Colorado 81240.

Once I have checked the main COX production sites and years and my summary is below. Sorry but I do not have a clue on how to post documents other than jpg files on CEF...I hope it remains readable.

In my obviously subjective and humble opinion, before the closure of COX as a manufacturing company its heydays linked it to East Warner Ave, Santa Ana (outskirts of LA) that I visited a few years ago when driving around the West Coast US.

(I would love to visit COX International/Bernie as well but British Columbia is even further next door to Hungary than California.... Smile )
The table/periods below, together with your occassionally saved, original COX boxes with the address on it, may also help you position your engines on the production timeline..

Thanks for that.  I could read it and it lays it all out in a couple of lines.  But I found the instructions that came with my old early '50's Space Bug Jr. that shows an address even without a zip code.  Smile

But digging even deeper.  Is this the proper packaging progression?  Or did the crystals come before the blister packs or were they sold concurrently?  Seems there was other packaging as well, longer with propellers?

I guess the Space Bugs must have been made in the "Quonset huts" that were kind of make-shift military barracks built on 730 Poinsettia Ave of Santa Ana before COX moved into the new building in 1963 located under 1505 East Warner Avenue .

As to the blister packs and christal boxes, I believe the blister packed TD010-s (on yellow plastic back-sheets) are older than the ones sold in christal boxes.

The black and red cardboard boxes were among the last packages used in the 1980-s and 1990-s  before Estes sold the engines again in blister packs

As a little kid in the early sixties i remember our church was a 'Quonset hut', pretty common, but rare to see one today.

I enjoyed all the pictures Mark, especially the B&W with the early 60's era, (probably 1963 Cadillac) parked between what was once my '52 Ford (that's a '53) and an exact duplicate of my '53 Mercury two door hardtop. I guess they all were taken in Santa Anna, beautiful country.

Also the pictures of the cardboard packaging Space Bug Jr's. I wonder if they ever come up for sale.

They're called NISSEN (not Nissan) huts out here.  Lots of them about.  The design originated in the UK in WW2 apparently.

The first version Space Bug/SBJ with the cardboard box package shows up on eBay every now and then.

Lol, i wonder if that's Leroy's Caddy in front of 'corporate'? There was also a house around the corner that was used, i think as the engineering dept. or part of the engineering dept.

Could be, Owners drive Caddys, workers Fords etc.. Smile

Progression confusion, I forgot that the term "Blister pack" also was used to describe the early Space Bug Jr. packaging as well. I call the Babe Bee etc. sealed packaging as "Blisters". I think I have the progression correct above, Blisters, large tall crystals, smaller flatter crystals and so on......

I don't know for sure, but the square clear polycarbonate (Black Widow) and the larger rectangular plastic (Tee Dee) might have ran concurrent.
