Yeah, they'd called in advance to make sure we could fuel them. It was my day off, but I still dragged myself down there to meet them at 5:00am for their fueling.
Weird machines, and weirder sound !

Yeah that is another thing that I can i can imagine with a coupe of throttle .010s

Re: On the Ramp Right Now: On the Ramp in NZ!!!
We don't have many stop overs at the local airport, but do have a lot of overhead traffic coming out of Ft. Campbell. One of the more interesting sights recently was a couple of Blackhawks with re-fueling probes snuggled up to a KC-130 trailing re-fueling funnels. Saw a couple of Apaches and 4 Chinooks yesterday.
Still not quite as exciting as smelling hot engines.

Most of our rotor traffic is out of Campbell, but we get machines from Fort Riley, Whitman, and other spots also. Last year, had a Marine Pilot, flying a Canadian Hornet, spend the night here to visit his folks in Cape!
TOTALLY freaked the morning guy coming in at 5 am to round the hangar and see an F-18 parked where we usually put the little toys ! Also got an excellent fly-by on his way out the next day !
I'm lucky to get to work in such a cool place!

Re: On the Ramp Right Now: On the Ramp in NZ!!!
Nice pics Kim!
I guess I need to start posting some pics too. I run into all kinds of stuff while working. It gets kind of mundane for me, I get bored with the military stuff and I would rather see the private planes! I am headed to another AFB on Friday to do a restoral on a Glideslope I can get some video of B1's taking off as I will only be a few 100 feet off threshold.

Do It! Stuff that bores you right now, may be some of your coolest stuff later on. My biggest regret from my youth is that I didn't take more photos. Now, I'm trying to play catch-up !

Re: On the Ramp Right Now: On the Ramp in NZ!!!
Boy Kim, you hit a soft spot there. I was doing a contract job at Hughes Helicopter in the early
80's assembling the "indentured parts list" for the AH-64 Apache. At the time, the 500d was ending
production and the 500e was starting up. One day they flew an Apache to Culver City from Yuma Az
to put on an agility display for the employees. Sadly the only thing left of HH is the giant Spruce Goose
production hanger.(Google Earth) Memories galore. Thanks for the photos.

Re: On the Ramp Right Now: On the Ramp in NZ!!!
very cool Kim! That C195 was the last of the cessna radials. It came out the same time Beechcraft came out with their V-Tail Bonanza.... which killed the C195 not long after it came out.
Re: On the Ramp Right Now: On the Ramp in NZ!!!
Glad you liked it Bob...and the Hughes 500 is one of my favorite civi-copters. We've got one based here...not the hedge trimmer pictured.
Yeah Travis, I like the "Rumblers" like these 195's. Used to be a couple derelicts parked in the grass at Creave Coure. Don't have a book on them, but believe some had hinged engine mounts that let the engine swing out like a barn door ! This one comes in for a visit every couple of weeks.
