Could be the opposite    lots of Finns emigrated to North America during the 1800s and 1900s. Many of them went to Minnesota, Canada etc to become lumberjacks but many worked in mines too. Maybe some of them (or their DNA) ended up in WVa and got ”distilled” somehow

Most of the internationally known Finnish bands play some kind of machine music or stuff called ”love metal”. Not my kind of stuff, but the bands include Apocalyptica (covers Metallica material using four cellos, pretty good actually), HIM, Nightwish, The Rasmus, 69 Eyes, Darude and some others.

Anyway, here’s one of my Finnish favourites, she sings in Finnish, but this song is about ”how hard it is to find eternal light”. Her lyrics are a bit mystical, but I find her voice mesmerizing.

I have all but given up trying to post the link to this group of street musicians, they are simply awesome if not the best. The group is called: Tuba Skinny, and are from New Orleans. There are several in the group and simply pop up on street corners. Please u-tube the group, Tuba Skinny, and one of simply the best foot stomping and street dancing songs called: Storyville Blues, from the 2017 French Quarter Fest.
