Very much so, Rod. I now look back, the long hair styles, the pseudo love themes, etc.Oldenginerod wrote:GallopingGhostler wrote:

It was a different time, glad to be beyond it now.

Things have gotten weirder, Jefferson Starship got it correct, we are out of control!

Hi gg,
No photos from then, sorry,
Old guy, had this old ROW FF on single channel 27mhz.
A half tank, glided it back to the dock, without effort. Cool.
Others were busy, with new 72mhz problems. Etc...
He filled the tank.
I helped him launch again.
Flew upwind, until a big thermal took it. Flew out of sight. (over Lake Ontario)
He said,
"I put my name on it", I'll build more, until I get it back...
True story.
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Had that happen to a 42 in. Goldberg half-A Cessna Skylane single channel rudder on 27 MHz back in 1977, Golden Bee powered. Visiting my parents, flew at an RC field in North Little Rock, AR.HalfaDave wrote:Old guy, had this old ROW FF on single channel 27mhz. [...] He filled the tank.

Made mistake to launch again in angry looking black but calm skies just before a Thunderstorm. Winds picked up and a hat sucking updraft took it out of sight over the end of the field. Full left rudder to spiral down didn't work.

Got soaked to the bone running to the pickup.

Hi gg,
This is the music post here, I think...
I have a nice launch point,
I have a Herr 'Aqua Star' that needs more forward flotation, not to submarine.
Never mind any Cox/Norvell/Elec options,
I'll call it Clair,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvIJs5_2PD4
Your results will vary,
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
P.S. I'll try and find a clearer recording of Clair. All the disturbing/weird/strange video is like anyone flying above .25...
P.P.S. Found it, Claire by the Rheostatics, no skip album, no above .25cu in...

Hi All,
11 Volume is great... But,
You can only appreciate it...
If you can listen to the 3-4s...
Melissa is from Hamilton.
Recorded this song on the chain of rocks bridge.
The mississippi river, Illinois.
Check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bUF3xhTWmo
Here is the cool part,
I was riding my bike, stopped by a lake Ontario front park.
I was looking at the Skyway Bridge, she was writing about..
Then noticed. The Lancaster...
I pointed my arm and yelled " Lancaster !!! "
The 50/100 people there were, "crazy guy" ignore him...
Then everyone saw it,
Most jaws dropped, some fumbled with cell phones.
With it going over head on a bomb run, over our heads. (2000ft?)
Then, we heard , the four 1/3rd throttle Merlins, go over our heads....
And go by.
Everyone clapped, and went WOW !
If you like percussion, it was very awesome...
If the bombay doors were open?
That would be another story...
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

The reason the (main) guitar solo is so good is that Albert Lee is the only legitimate professional musician in that clip. He is not a member of that "band".
The other members are all posers; actors who played tha part of musicians in the movie "This is Spinal Tap". (Although they do actually play).
The bass player is played by Harry Shearer who does many of the voice-overs in "The Simpsons".
Great movie for a laugh, but no, they're not a "real" band. (Some may argue that point)

You beat me to it Dave. Another music legend gone. Here's one of his musical triumphs.
We drag this one out for our own band every Christmas.

Hi Oldenginerod,
I first heard 'theWeight' on AM radio. Kind of fuzzy reception back then...
I thought the words were, 'Take the load, off Granny'...
Amazing music. Words. Life.
A true North American, who loved this world.
R.I.P. Robbie Robertson,
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

LoVe YES Dave! Lots of listening time logged. Have a friend who had a rather impressive system back in 1976. Yessongs, Fragile Tormato, Tales from Topographic Oceans... Oh YES!!
Tori Amos-Cornflake Girl
A recent and obscure find, that I really appreciate.. being a keyboard player.
Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Hi roddie,
Cool thing about Tori Amos...
She 'sees' music, in colours...
That 'cascade' down the keyboard...
Brilliant !
I heard some familiar music in a store. I googled,
It was Yes !
Shades of when more Watts the Better !
Agree on Yes music...
Back then, (frying amps and speakers from RadioShack !)
The ultimate song to 'challenge' a great sound system was:
Kraftwerk Autobaun,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-G28iyPtz0
20 minutes.
Recommend headphones...
Take care,
Have fun,
