I don't know what it is but I love it! The engine, the prop, the oil soaked stand, the battle scars, everything!

There were certainly dozens of variations of this engine, the case changed in 40, they had right, left, rear intake and exhaust. The intake tube length changed also.
Number 41 & 42 are close. Looks like it missing timing arm. Are the intake and exhaust on right side? Pic from rear?

This is the next page in the book, not many were made during the war years. I would guess yours is #48 made pre war

I would just dust it and put it as is in my glass case forever. Maybe not even dust it.

Looks complete except for what CB noted, it's missing the timing arm, easily duplicated on a lathe.
