Big gamble Bernie but they look great. Only trouble is, I don't have an engine to use them on.

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
Rod, may be you don't but I do have an .020. Mebbe time to get a small Tee Dee?
The nice thing about this larger tank is it helps resolve the problem with fuel feed by keeping the fuel line as short as possible. Also based on the photos, the quality is outstanding, definitely a high grade product. The silver anodizing is sharp, but I have a passion for the red, which came out ultra gorgeous.
You did good on this one, Bernie, kudos to your friend in Germany for his quality work, like that of a fine German made jeweled watch.

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
Just got off the phone with Theresa, silver anodized items sold out quickly with only a few red left. That was quick! Don't hesitate! But they just ordered another batch, so if sold out, a little patience and they'll be in stock again!
She mentioned the red anodized is truly gorgeous, the photos don't do justice on how the really look. I'll photo my .020 with new tank as soon as it arrives and is fitted.
BTW, Cox International shipping is quick! I just placed my order late last night, first thing this morning order was already filled.
Ditto with last order I placed with Ex Engines. You can't go wrong ordering from either firm!

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
Thanks for all the purchases and kind words
We brought in twice as much as we initially wanted and are down to four parts only. We are trying to get more product but are unsure at this point when we will have stock again.

Bernie, I don't know all the details on your friend, but I gather that his situation may be similar to other cottage industries. If like them, these are done after work as a labor of love and extra pocket money.
I remember some time back that the newspapers were making a big fuss over the cost of the Douglas Aircraft toilet seat on their jets being so expensive. Article failed to take into account the number of engineering design and testing hours that went into making a successful toilet seat that would last a while, an aircraft lifetime in some cases, plus the cost of higher grade materials and finishes that would ensure such a toilet seat would last a long time through its cyclic fatigue (squatting - unsquatting, dropping, slamming, mounting and unmounting) and static fatigue (standing, extended squatting, etc.) and finish wear (skin, shoe, clothing and cleaner abrasions; uric and fecal acids, solvents, etc.) .
Those costs are amortized into the cost of the final product. Every pound of weight saved meant that more weight could be carried in fuel, passengers, cargo and other equipment.
Much of the hobby today is being carried on through such cottage industries, with only a few as a full time business.
As the model engine industry is heading into the dusk, I am grateful that such as he still continues to support the industry, along with your company, too.

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
It is a German customer who approached us. He is Chinese and he had the tanks & carb bodies manufactured in China. The package came directly to us and was sent from some "aviation company" (forgot the name) but it's probably a company that caters to the hobby.
Apparently he had more tanks and carb bodies made than we ordered but I think it's only like 10 each in each size. Shall see ...

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
I think it very good that this individual made such quantities available to you that could be passed onto others.
I read some time back that much of the ARF industry in China was of an almost cottage nature, too. Kits were being manufactured by the textile industry, say a clothing or luggage / handbag and cases manufacturer. A company like Hobby King would negotiate with one of these companies. They'd make say, a couple thousand (I can't say for sure because I don't know actual quantities) of one kit that would be sold worldwide. Set aside some space in their factory for such a production run.
Hence, this is why we see a popular ARF last for a short while, may be 6 months to two years and no more. Few now are companies that in past would make thousands upon thousands of just one kit year in and year out for a decade or more.

It's a gamble to determine whats going to be a hot seller. With these tanks and the increased capacity they may sell well for a few months as word gets out.

Does anyone know how to get hold of "Mudhen"?
Holding tanks and carb bodies for him but no replies and a waiting list for these out-of-stock parts that is growing.

Thanks for the PM Jacob (Admin) and back in stock are:
One .020 Carb Body - Silver
Two .010 Fuel Tanks - Silver
Two .020 Fuel Tanks - Silver
Next shipment is about 3 weeks away but will only be ten each of the four parts and we don't know yet if they will be silver or red.

Re: Aluminium fuel tanks for Cox Tee Dee .010 & .020
BERNIE !!!!!
These tanks are too pretty to use !!!!!!
JUST KIDDING !!!
Got mine today, and immediately assembled the .010 tank. With a pretty rich 4-stroke break, I got 3 minutes and 13-20 seconds run time out of a couple tank fulls.
May try to get myself some red ones next, and some spare O-ring kits just for the heck of it.
Thanks for your initiative in getting these to us micro-castor-slinger-lovers !!!!!!!!!!
Micro Kim
P.S.
Got a little over 3 1/2 minutes with the .020, but only timed one run before it started to rain.

Those are definitely “things of beauty “. Make the engines look good, and run longer.
Just curious, did the mounting hole pattern match an existing pattern on the purple mount?

Thanks for posting Kim and, yes, they are beautiful pieces.
The mounting holes do not match any of the patterns of our test stands.
Just found another four .010 red tanks that we were going to list on eBay but forgot. They are now listed here: https://coxengines.ca/cox-.010-alu-fuel-tank-red.html
