Cox cast exhaust extension wanted Empty Cox cast exhaust extension wanted

Post  theaerosmith Mon Jan 23, 2012 9:31 am

I am trying to find some of the cast Cox exhaust extensions for the .049s, the ones with the square outlet and have Cox cast into the top of the extension. The extension is maybe 3/4" long, and the ring part that slips over the cylinder simply slides into place. I'm trying to find several if possible. A friend of mine builds custom tether cars from barstock using Cox motors and these are really the hot setup to make them 'right', exiting the exhaust out the side of the car. I can send a picture of one if needed.

Any help, even ONE, is a big deal.

Thanks very much.

I'll keep my eyes open for them as a part but for now I know you can get them off these engines here> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cox-049-Model-Car-airplane-Engine-No-191-6-/380402908087

$25 +shipping not a bad price for an exhaust collector, heat sink and other car engine parts (I used to see exhaust collectors selling for $7 for a pair awhile back)

Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open for them as a single part.

Cox cast exhaust extension wanted Empty cox exhaust

Post  beastcars Tue Jan 24, 2012 10:37 am

Hi Folks

I'm the guy that Bob (THE aerosmith) was looking for the exhaust collectors for. If you would like to see photos of how I use these, take a look at e-bay auction
# 160720956198 Without these collectors I'm severely limited as to the type of cars I can design around the Cox engine and trying to make something similar would be a huge pain. I was purchaseing them on e-bay for $7.50 each (not per pair) however I think I got them all. I'm willing to purchase up to ten at a time for a reasonable price if any are availible.
It's not worth it for me to buy parts engines just for the collector as I can't use any of the other stuff, already have a box full of unused Cox stuff.
Any help with these would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks

Doug,

Very nicely built sprint tethers! Good choice of power plant too. I cannot help with the exhaust collectors. However, there are many here that would be very interested in a box full of unused cox parts. Myself included! Welcome to the forum and I hope you find what you are looking for.

The collectors can be machined from bar stock. The cost may be more than $7 though.....
I have 2 of them but they are not for sale. I bought them off of ebay a while ago.

That is one cool car.

The "per pair" deal was a few years back, I believe it was Dan Sitter who was selling them. Like I said, I'll be keeping my eves open for them! My cox Jeep was missing one when I got it from a swap meet last year, so I have always been kinda looking for them! Your car is VERY neat!

Jason -- I'll probably end up having to machine my own, however it would save a lot of time if I could possibly see photos of yours, maybe copy them. If I like them and can make them, I'd be happy to make a few extra for you.

Thank you all for the nice comments on my car !! If any of you would like to see more of my cars, just drop me a note at beastranger2@yahoo.com and I'll e-mail you photos.

I wish I was buying them when Dan had them for $7 a pair !! He's the one I was getting them from at $7.50 each, also some slick tires that are all gone now too.

I'll go through my Cox stuff and see just exactly what I have, then post it.

Right now I'm taking a quick break from the cars and building a Blackhawk Models Pitts Special half-A C/L plane with a DC .049 on the nose. If any of you have built this model, let me know. I think the instructions leave a lot to be desired and it needs a bunch of stuff to make it fly good and easier to build. If anyone is interested I can tell and show you how to make it happen with one of these planes. Mainly how the engine and landing gear are mounted along with making the upper wing easier to mount and align.

Thans again

You're right.

"This auction is for ONE motor.

Engine has 1 bypass cylinder, exhaust collector stack, heat sink, taper lock crankshaft / flywheel, delrin knurled knob and a delrin backplate / reed assembly.

Specify if you want black crankcase, red delrin backplate or white backplate; otherwise you will receive random selection."
