As I sit in my warm comfortable shop zooming around the internet seeking the end as I do quite often---I am mindful that our news media fails to report facts;

Fact

American military is deployed right now all around the world:

Every Embassy has Marine Guards
Several Shooting wars are ongoing with casualties on Both sides EVERY day

Japan
Philippines
Africa
Middle east
Germany
Great Brittan
Diego Garcia
and another 2 or 3 dozen places all around the globe

Thousands of
Coast Guard
Army
Navy
Marines
Air force

Do not forget Civilian contractors
Doctors and Nurses
Humanitarians
UN observers

NOT at home
Not with family
Some not comfortable
Some Hungry
Some cold
Some very lonely
Some sick
Some proud
Some angry
All Patriots

Today if you read all of this...just think on it a bit

Why are they there?

Why do we spend nearly a Trillion $$$ every year to maintain this massive effort?

Did the News Media this year inform us about how many countries desperately are trying to evolve into a USA like Constitutional Government with citizen freedoms?
I am not talking USA nation building .
...but rather interesting to me that BBC reports about a few emerging economies with newly elected leaders-- of some former 3rd world countries -- are actually adopting a American format Bill of Rights and Constitution

and I say a prayer for ALL the people doing this important work, and I honor them with modest contributions to institutions I believe in

No it didn't. It also didn't inform us that we don't have as many citizen freedoms as we think we do, nor did it inform us that not everybody can be like us (or like we used to be) either for a variety of reasons I won't go into here and that trying to spread our "freedoms and democracy" all over the world might not always be such a great idea.

Amen Fred, It has come to be that we are the defenders of freedom throughout the world and our taxpayers bear the burden, while the Europeans reap the benefits and grouse over paying their fair share. Maybe enough is enough.

But are trillions spent worth avoiding another WW or 9/11. Maybe so...

Regards the media, both major cable networks have an agenda. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Broadcast news too, only slightly less so. If I want world news I look to PBS. A ton less Trump and no commercials.

Your watching the wrong programs Victor, pick and choose.

There is a bunch of good programming there and not all is political. It's where I run to when I want to escape progressive pablum. Radio too, until NPR's "Morning Edition" with Steve Inskeep comes on. Then I turn it off.
