I adopted a problem child on Ebay
I have been a fan of OK engines since I was A kid My favorite is the .074. I was bored last week and it was raining so I was looking at all kinds of things on Ebay that I don't need and I stumbled onto an OK Cub .149 that wasn't listed with all the other Cub stuff, it looked great in the pictures and it stated it was seized. I got it for cheap and figured I would chance it being stuck from old fuel. A little liquid wrench and the heat gun and it was free, the compression was good so I popped off the back cover made sure the rod was good and free oiled it up and put it on the test stand. I added a little extra castor to the fuel and tried starting it, a couple of encouraging pops and it was running. I treated it like a new engine being broken in with heat cycles etc. because I don't know its history but it appears to be broken in now with no black or gray goo in the exhaust. The one thing that is not fun with cubs is your finger and thumb get cooked by the exhaust when tweaking the needle valve, well the .149 really is a finger incinerator I am going to add a small piece of plastic tubing to the needle to get my fingers away from the heat, Its a clear hose that if you heat it up real good it gets soft enough to push over the knob on a Cub and once it cools it gets firm again and locks in place. The problem child came out when it was just about out of fuel it spit out some fuel when it hiccuped and on the next stroke fired again and ignited it setting my test stand on fire, Bad little cubby keep this up and your going back to Herkimer I thought. But all in all I think Its going to be a fun engine and I might have decided on my next Old Time Stunt Engine for My Blackhawk/Goldberg Glo-Bug. TJ

Good score on the engine and that it didn't take much to get her going again / That's pretty wild about the fire though , but i did do a bad prime on a Bee that i was having problems with when trying to fly my Baby Ringmaster. Had the engine running the day before so i couldn't understand why it wouldn't go that day ?? Come to find out the pickup tube was rotten I have a video but can't show it here to volger

I hope you got your Ring back in the air, I remember a .Baby Bee starting a small grass fire at the county Fair when I was in the 4H model club, but we just stomped it out. I had read some time back about a Cub starting a Flying Clown on fire, after yesterday I can see how it happened ! I am thinking about getting a Pat King Ringmaster 150 for one of my .074s I think it would be a good match. I just like how the Cub's run they are luggers not screamers cause my reflexes aren't what they used to be TJ

The Cub .149 is loud. The .19 is deafening. Those engines are just outright obnoxious. Cool but loud.

I have most of my stuff in storage right now , I am in a small apartment and am getting back into the little planes , it's just easier for now plus it's a lot cheaper Skyray are $16.00 that's about what they cost in 1986 when I stopped flying and started Mechanic School. I fly my swap meet Sig Buster mainly now but have an Akromaster in he Works and a little Skyray. My wife says this mid life crisis has been going on for 8 year's lol. TJ

Why do you use two different member-names? One has a 2011 join date and the other a 2019..

The best use by far for a Cub .19 is in nostalgia Class A free flight and R/C assist free flight.
https://www.bmjrmodels.com/free-flight/nostalgia/honey-b-600
Super light, great power to weight ratio and due to short engine runs involved it won't suffer from primitive metallurgy and noise won't be such an issue.
