While I know nothing about tether cars, I just wanted to say that it looks very nice overall. I am sure someone with some knowledge will pipe in here at some point and hopefully be able to answer your question.

After doing some looking online, it does appear the the grille is not factory. The ones I saw all appeard to have more of a rounded / bubble shape to them.

With enough time and money, you can accomplish most anything!! The GT40, Corvette, Chaparral, Buick 049 powered cars are straight line dragsters or roundy round Teather cars. No provisions for steering or throttle control. You could add a throttle sleeve on the cylinder and install a spring to open/close the throttle sleeve thru a secondary string from the center post. Wen Mac did that on their Indy Racer. Some of the other Cox Cars (sandblaster?) had a three position throttle sleeve, you’d set for Low/medium/high Rev’s before releasing the car/buggy/truck for free running. You want “RC” you will have to add, battery pack, receiver, servo(s) and linkages to throttle sleeve. It can be done, just have to use your modeling skills and mechanical expertise. Search for ADAM-12, this member did a excellent conversion to RC on a car that did have factory Steering modified for RC.

Thanks
Thanks - will investigate
The object is to r/c the engine speed only - no control of direction is needed as the cars are to run on the Cox Giant Track (if I can find one !!!)
