Engineless Aurora P-47 .049/.060 Empty Curious if the 1959 Aurora P47 is what you were talking about?

Post  ttschida Sat Aug 15, 2020 9:31 am

rsv1cox,

I just so happen to have inherited a 1959 Aurora P47 Thunderbolt with the Tornado .049 engine from my father. From what I could find on the web; the plane seems to only be missing the circular antenna and has a small crack in the plastic on the right wing (I'm assuming can be repaired).

It also had the four page manual (in rough shape so they are in plastic sleeves) and the handle with string.

I am not much of a collector, I would rather be flying my RC planes.

Is this plane fairly rare / collectable? I don't think I want to sell this, I would just like to know how rare it is?

Thanks!

There are at least two Aurora P-47's on ebay right now, this one

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aurora-P-47-Thunderbolt/223865033501?hash=item341f65531d:g:bHcAAOSw1mZeJbXF

and another for $735 that has been on there forever with no takers.

They are rare, as are all Aurora control line airplanes, but those prices are way off what collectors are willing to pay. Something between $300/$350 would be more in line.

A lot of us here fly RC as well as CL.

Welcome to the forum.

Engineless Aurora P-47 .049/.060 Empty Thanks for you response

Post  ttschida Sat Aug 15, 2020 10:08 am

I flew CL with my dad as a child, it is difficult to do so in the cities these days. We used to fly in the park, unfortunately anything with an engine on it is to dangerous now.

I appreciate your help.
