Engine Direction And Propeller On Tether Car

Engine Direction And Propeller On Tether Car
Ok. So, I am planning on trying out my homemade tether car in the next week or two. With that said, I have a question regarding starting and running it. The engine is on the back pointed rearward. So, what propeller and direction does one run the engine? I keep thinking of it, then second guess myself. My original thought is using a standard propeller put on the engine backwards, and run in the original direction of the engine (RH). Is this correct, or am I not seeing it properly. I have both standard (RH) rotation propellers, and a few LH 6 x 2 propellers. If anyone could please help clear this up for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello new222
The one you have on should work well you mounted it correctly. Make sure the prop doesn`t hit the ground and if it does just swap for a 3 blade for more clearance. Have fun!

Re: Engine Direction And Propeller On Tether Car
To use a right-hand propeller as a pusher you should install it backwards and you also need to run it backwards (LH).
You can also run a backwards-installed left-hand propeller to the conventional direction and it will work as a pusher.
Actually you don’t even need to install a propeller backwards to run it as a pusher, you just need to run the engine backwards
But with a backwards-installed propeller you will obviously get better thrust.

Try running the car with the engine facing the front too

Re: Engine Direction And Propeller On Tether Car
The reedies run either direction so any prop is fine. Just make sure the flat surface of the prop faces the rear. Don't let it sit too long running as there is no cooling. A Texaco finned head or the clamp on cooling fin will help, but if it is a bit rich and moving it will be ok likely.

Looks like you already have a LH prop fitted.NEW222 wrote:Ok. So, I am planning on trying out my homemade tether car in the next week or two.
