Wire Cutter Idea

Wire Cutter Idea
I read this in an issue of RCM magazine. Cutting wires with wire cutters is more safe with that idea. Clean the wire cutter cavity with alcohol then fill the cavity with RTV silicone rubber. After the silicone is cured, separate the cutter halves with razor blade. Now when you cut the wire, the silicone rubber will clamp the cut end of wire and prevents it to fly off.

Re: Wire Cutter Idea
That is a GREAT idea!! Using stuff we probably have on hand, to keep small metal projectiles from flying across the room!
Thanks !
Thanks !

Re: Wire Cutter Idea
I just read that one also. I love the Outerzone RC Library. Lets me catch up on the RCM issues I used to have or never got a chance to read. But my favorites that I keep checking to see if there is a new issue for are the Model Builder magazines with their "The Half-A Scene" columns by Larry Renger.
I have a set of cutters from Harbor Freight that are waiting for the RTV treatment. Such a simple concept, but one that never popped into my head.

Is that Model Builder magazine with the Larry Renger articles accessible in the net, ir only hard copies are there to read in libraries?
