This gentleman was one of the unsung heroes in our history. With all our modern ways, health and safety culture and risk averse mentality - it is highly unlikely that anyone could approach this gentlemans accomplishments or be allowed to.

He flew 487 different types of aircraft, performed thousands of aircraft carrier landings and was one of our foremost test pilots.'s_Eighth_Air_Force
