"Viper Time!!!"...with a little effort...
Got some front yard flying time with my Hyper Viper today, though it took some prep for each flight. The plane's plastic engine mounts are deteriorating and came loose on both flights, so I'm gonna have to do some serious thinking on the best way to keep it's engine from "departing the area".

Still, got in a couple flights in some fairly smooth air (which has been a rarity lately!)

The key fob cameras give a unique view - sort of a plane watching pilot. With such a long nose, the Viper must be a chunky monkey in the tail.
Also liked your stooge -- looks like a steerable nose gear bracket.

Thanks Man!
It had a tough time hauling the cameras, but it all would have been a lot easier if the engine had stayed firmly mounted! The Viper's fuel tank gives it over five minutes of flight, so there's some time to experiment.
It does seem to be a bit nose heavy...or "heavy" in general. I'd given some thought to leaving off it's landing gear and launching it from my "Kitchen Mat Stooge", but didn't think it could get going quickly enough before hitting the ground.

Nice flights even with a loosey/goosey engine up front !! I like the looks of the plane and seems to haul the mail (cameras) pretty good with loops/inverts and wingovers . Thank You enjoyed the fun

Yep. Another amazing video by Kim! I still can't believe how the plane handled the two cameras with a loose engine up front, let alone the stunts too. Good job, and thanks for sharing!

That was well worth tuning to watch, thanks, Kim. She sure looks better on the outside than on the inside.
See if you can find a video with Sparky or Windy Urtnowski building an engine crutch for the big stunt ships. That might get you on a good track for a strong mount. Let me know if you can't find one and I'll try to dig one up.

Hey Jim!
I've got two types of cameras I use: the tiny key fob types and some Go Pros on the larger planes.
A while back, this key fob style was all over Ebay, and they became my standard (I'd tried a couple different styles before with varying success). These are flat, and easy to just tape to an airframe, or get fancy and mount to a servo to rotate in flight. For a while, I was counter-balancing a single camera with an appropriate weight slab of lead. Then, in a flash of Redneck Brilliance, decided to just use a second camera for ballast---doubling the footage! I can be a little slow.
I'm currently nursing three along, as they're getting scarce (probably ought to buy a couple to put back). I like the wide angle version for obvious reasons, though by their nature, they DO distort things a bit.
I have yet to lose a camera in flight, though I've had to search for a couple that got knocked off in impacts. When using Magic Tape, I ALWAYS use a pad of gray foam, with an outside looped piece of tape between BOTH the camera and the airframe. This keeps the camera or foam from sliding out from under the strip that's holding the whole thing down.
These are on Ebay now, though there are probably others. If you ever use a Go Pro, I like the cube-shaped "Session" type, as they're less likely to try to steer the plane for you when they're mounted on a wingtip.
