Laser 70 4 stroke
Tis a strange phenomenon but where I fly, two stroke glo motors are prone to rouse complaint.
Strange thing is that unsilenced diesels up to 19s don't seem to upset anyone and even larger silenced models seem to stay in everyones comfort range.
Unsilenced glo motors are a no no - might get away with a Pee Wee for a couple of minutes but everything else raises eyebrows.
Quite a few silenced glo motors also breach the bounds. The Brodak 40 is one of these, the OS 40 and 46 with the large silencer scrape through ........... the list goes on and on and is very subjective.
My main problem though is not so much the noise but the bulky silencer. While it is nice for streaming the exhaust away - it is also good at destroying an engine in a prang. I have many engines in my junk box with broken exhaust ports and mounting lugs. (not broken by me but scooped up from someone elses wreckage)
Not that I don't prang - nearly all my engines are unsilenced diesels and pretty tough. (i have written off quite a few electrickeries though!)
Anyway, where I am, quite a few modellers have gone and been four stroke for some time. They have a much mellower sound with quite a small silencer tucked at the back. Up til now, I have never owned one but have repaired a few (mostly because the owner, like me, is a fan of castor oil - believe me, one of these doesn't take to kindly to being gummed up.
Anyway, my first real foray is this Laser 70.
DISPLACEMENT
0.70 cu in (11.33cc)
BORE
27.7mm
STROKE
18.8mm
PRACTICAL RPM RANGE
2000-11000
RECOMMENDED FULL POWER RPM RANGE
9000-10500
RECOMMENDED PROPS
12×7-8 13×6-7 14×4-5
WEIGHT
580g
It is a heavy little beast.
Even with the collection of glo plugs I have - I don't have a suitable one for this. This needs OS type F or equivalent. I also need some no castor oil fuel.
Impatiently waiting delivery!

Re: Laser 70 4 stroke
I have a laser 100. Its a heavy engine. I haven't run it yet. Got it used off of RC Groups a while ago.
Still drooling for a 240 V twin. Some day.

The 100 weighs in at almost 29 ounces. I am afraid the 240 Vtwin is no longer in production.
Now the 200V which is 43 ounces and the 360V - 67 ounces. These aren't engines to drop on your toes.
