First Flight Memories
Hi y'all!! I'm sure some of you remember that I built a couple of specialized planes for the Traveling Cox .010 Engine a few weeks ago. The Flying Diamond is a free flight and actually I was a bit worried about losing it in some of the tall pines around our flying field. The other is called the Flying License Plate and it's being flown on 25' Spectra lines. Well, I never had opportunity to use it on any of these so for the heck of it, I mounted one of my Cox .020 engines on it just to see how they would fly. Oh, for the record, the FLYING DIAMOND was safely retrieved with the assistance of one of the Parks and Recreation techs who allowed me to use their 20+ foot ladder. Thank you Ryan!! That said, hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

Jim, nothing like a good save, that was good. I also enjoy free flight, it's very rewarding to fly them when they're working properly. In fact my son and I got some good flights today. We did get some video so I'm hoping my buddy sends them to me. I also did some Jetex flights. I had one Jetex flight today that was most impressive. It went pretty darn high and my buddy says to me, I hope you brought your horse. Luckily though when the Jetex quit, it circled and the wind grabbed the outboard tip and it spiraled right down in front of us.

Hey! Good stuff, the diamond was flying well for it’s very short flight.

Finally, I have to give credit to the designer, Mr. Ken Willard and to Outer Zone for preserving and sharing the plans because with out them ... well, there just wouldn't have been the joy and laughter we were able to share!!

Howdy Ken! Thanks but it sounds like you had a barrel of fun too! Man, I guess I must have been 10 or 11 when I had my first experience with Jetex. I believe I ordered one from the back of one of my comic books ... a Scorpion I believe. I think it would be a ball to try again. Heck, I may just take the challenge and build something for one even if I can't get them any more. Sadly, they don't advertise in the back of comic books anymoreKen Cook wrote: Jim, nothing like a good save, that was good.
