Re: More unrealistic prices?
I think I have better engines that that one.
Both hand built.
Venturi hole is .068" dia.
Has heavy duty crank (high performance?)
Cylinder has been timed and has beryllium High Performance (.001") thick copper reeds I've had on hand for years from K-Tech.
And both have the cylinder throttle control.
And to get the spring starter "black" I sprayed Nitric acid on them, then dunked them in a solution of baking soda and water then wiped 3 in 1 oil on them.
This engine I call Apple-Bee
because of the golden crankcase = golden delicious apple and the red tank = red delicious apple.

Now for the 2nd engine
I call that one Ru-Bee --- the name says it all.

Now these engines are worth the higher price.
Here are photos of the K-Tech reeds:
The High Performance at .001" thickness

And the Sport Reed at .002" thickness

Some of my Kustom Kraftsmanship stash!

Re: More unrealistic prices?
Well getback,
The Apple-Bee's crankcase is really "orange" and not yellow (or golden).
I'm just assembling engines from parts I've collected over the years that have been sitting in a box getting banged around in the shop.
I liked it when the Toledo show in April came around.
When Cox had a booth, I'd pick up "pretty" anodized engine parts and stuff from them.
Usually I'd have a tote bag of parts (and an engine or two) and about $100 or $200 less in my pocket. (I do miss that time).
Last saw their booth in about 1988 at Toledo.
Now for the "Red" Cox Engine:
Taking a close look at the photos, I think this engine was custom built by Kustom Kraftsmanship.
There is a cylinder head shim between the crankcase and the cylinder head.
Exactly what I did on my "Ru-Bee" engine.

I think my "Red" engine is better looking that the one on Ebay.
Maybe sell it for $450.00?
My custom built "red" engine has the performance crank, venturi hole at .082". Took it apart today to check it out (1/29/21)
I thought I drilled it out to .068" (but didn't)
But has no SPI, but has a throttle control.

The Ebay engine has the light gray back plate.
Some engines I have with the "black" back plate has a venturi hole size of .082" (Cox sold)
The original "Texaco .049 Jr." engines (which I have) with the gray back plate has a venturi hole size of .063"
So, it's just a fancy "Red" engine that was custom built and "if" it was, my 1993 catalog from Kustom Kraftsmanship has the cost of that engine (back at 1993 prices) around $45.00?

Re: More unrealistic prices?
Yes!
Little stock guy, puts it to it the BIG corporate guy and BIG corporate guy cries foul!
BIG guy got it in the shorts (pun intended)
Bad part was the big guy told the little trading houses to stop their traders from buying more.
This is a Capitalistic country, ain't it?
