2021 "Summer S.M.A.L.L."

2021 "Summer S.M.A.L.L."
So, I'm a little over a week away from loading the van and camper for the run to Sky Tiger Field near Mayflower, Arkansas. This one will run from June 3rd through the 6th, though I'm planning on arriving on the 1st.
I'm once again picking through the candidates that will fly through the hallowed Arkansas Sky, along with stocking the camper for the 4 night visit.
Unfortunately, Tony --xplaneguy here---one of our main instigators will be absent this time due to work commitments, but is hoping to make "Fall S.M.A.L.L." in October, and I'm gonna have to bail early on Saturday for a family event back home.
BUT...we shall persevere!
I've got one or two newbies for this S.M.A.L.L., one of them being a "Piece O' Cake" motorglider, built by my ex father-in-law. Gifted to me last year, the little plane is getting ready for it's first flight in a couple decades, still using it's little Airtronics Two-Channel Radio. I'll also be taking it's Big Brother, the Butterfly, for some easy evening cruising.
So, stand by for the usual onslaught of fun photos and videos posted here!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Piece O' Cake parks next to the Butterfly.

Trying to move the ballast as far forward as possible by gouging out pockets for some "lead buttons" in the thick cowling blocks.

The Piece O' Cake's Black Widow gets some new gaskets:

And a test-tun:

Kim,
Please pin the site so I can plug it in to Google Maps.
Will you be flying the Rusty Engines during the event?

Looks Like It! Just talked to Jacob, and he's gonna get them on the way on Monday. I look to leave early on Tuesday, June 1st, and be there 'till Saturday morning.

I'm looking for the actual address, but their field's driveway is just south of Mayflower, on highway 365, with a GPS location of:
34.912325,-92.443331.

A Note From the Sky Tigers
A note from the Sky Tigers:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Good Day Everyone
SMALL is just around the corner, and we are super excited for the event. The weather is hopefully looking to be nice this year. We will have the same food menu as before with BBQ on Saturday. Registration will be $20.00. If we have a raffle the tickets will be available at registration.
The T-shirts are in and Ray has the info for people that had preorders, contact him for any updates or questions. We ask everyone to help us with tents not being on the flightline, we had a few last year over plane stands and it worked out well. We are planning to have a very large turnout this year and need all the room we can get. We think the weather will be dry enough to park campers in the normal location, but please contact the officers in case we have to relocate because of the weather.

And the final load-out is done, As usual, my "Let's Travel Light This Time" plan was cast aside, and additions kept being strapped to the shelves through the afternoon.
The van is STILL irritatingly spacious, but I intend to resist jamming in anymore flying machines...at least for now.
We'll roll at a time calculated to make my lunch-time arrival at a small restaurant in Bald Knob, Arkansas, then cruise leisurely into Mayflower, and squeeze off a few evening flights if the weather allows.
Here we go.

Will do!
I had everything loaded to the gills and decided to come on down. Got a spot in an R.V. Park in Maumelle, and settled in. Gonna take the van to Sky Tiger Field in the morning.

Today saw several "Pre-S.M.A.L.L." activities, with the typical variety of flying machines to be expected at Sky Tiger Field.

Kevin modified his Skycopter by trading out it's Pee Wee for a Tee Dee .020.

Security Officer Ellie was not a fan of snooping drones!

My own Skycopter got in several flights:

Maybe a "duh" moment for me, but............
"I want to believe"
I want to believe what I'm seeing here?
1. Bear with really bad teeth looking though a peep hole.
2. Trash receptacle with a really small hole.
3. Really bad rendition of a smiley face.
4. etc. etc.

Hey Bob,
It’s just a silly reference to the old “X-Files” tv show.. The main character was an FBI agent named Fox Mulder, who investigated paranormal stuff.
He didn’t get a lot of respect from his fellow agents, and was relegated to a basement office, where he displayed a poster made from a 1950's Flying Saucer photo, with the caption: “I Want To Believe”.
Retro Nerd Stuff!!!

Got it Kim.
I'm a nerds nerd. I was probably watching Frasier, Seinfeld, and Cheers during that period. Well, with maybe a NYPD Blue or two thrown in.

I didn't know what that was either Bob but after pondering on it awhile I thought it was the flying saucer in the next pic. well wrong again , I can reference back to all those shows from the good ole days LOL Carry on !! thanks for posting Kim enjoying it from a distance

It's over 800 miles from home here

Well, actually, it IS Kevin's saucer. When I was was loading the photos and video, I noticed it's resemblance to Fox Mulder's poster and added the caption. It has become a bit of customary humor among us whenever Kevin breaks out on of his saucers.
