Fun-Fly near McLean, Illinois August 14th
Got this event rolling up in 3 weeks, and thought I'd post it here in case any members might want to meet there on August 14th for some "Model Aviation Day" fun with the SIRS Sentral Illinois Radio Society.
One of our local clubs (The Sky Squires near Marion, Illinois) will host the event both Saturday and Sunday...but reserving Saturday for Scale Flying, and Sunday being an open Fun-Fly.
So...I intend to cruise up the interstate Friday, camp at the SIRS field, fly on Saturday, then head back Sunday to Marion, Illinois for the Fun-Fly with the Sky Squires.
If you're within striking distance, come on out to the pool table-flat plains of central Illinois and sling some caster!
Here's the Info:

Kim, my home club is SIRS.
I will see you on the 14th!
I don't know if it was publicized, but we do have a "crop circle". Bring a CL plane as well as the RC stuff!

How Great!!!!!!!!!!
I've been snooping on you guys, and spied the Crop Circle on the southeast corner of your field! Gonna bring some of my favorite Steel Cable Dogs!
Also did some reading about that place's incredible history, with the fellow who originally owned the property meeting Lindbergh after the Lone Eagle bailed from his mail plane. He later returned to gather the scattered postage from around the wreckage, with assistance from the land's owner!
You guys are "Walking in Big Footsteps" up there!
Looking forward to some great fun!!!!
