This thread made me think of my neighbors cat. Dog very friendly, cat not so. Took the cat a long time to warm up to me but he did eventually even wandering into the house, sniffing around then leaving.
Much later the daughter knocked on my door with a "Missing Cat" flyer. Later, my neighbor told me the last time he saw him he was crossing the road towards the across the streets neighbors house when a shot rang out and he never saw him again.

About 10 years ago I made the mistake on taking in a feral kitten, it was tiny baby abandoned. It grew into the meanest cat I've ever had. If you try to pet it it bites, it will swat my foot when I walk by with just enough claw to let me know its there and I'm the one that feeds it. It does leave a rat on the porch now and then so it earns its food.

The across the street family from me is curious. They don't pay their Home Owners Association dues (We have a lien on their property) or intergrate with the rest of the community. The men over there carry Glocks on their hips and target shoot frequently, I don't have a problem with that but shooting a neighbors pet, that's another thing. Really strange, because they have two well taken care of dogs, and keep chickens and ducks in an enclosure but free range them too. Definately not anti animal.
On the positive side I watched two kits and a mother Fox in my yard this morning having a heck of a time.

Ha ha! Lynne and I have 2 new kittens (brother and sister; "Ralph and Alice")
They're 3 mos. old.. they sleep 18-20 hours a day.. they pass gas that probably would power your Cox engine if a little castor was added..

I don't know if I posted his picture before, but this is Otto.
Sometimes Oscar, Kitty, Scratchy, etcetera. He's a good cat
that does bad things, and we love him to death. 4 year old,
adoped him when he was 4 months old. He has been jumping
on to my shoulders since the day I adopted him.
He's not our cat, we're his humans.

Great one flipstart...........I'm enjoying all the cartoons and pictures.
Got an orange tabby occasionally crossing my very rural yard. He was out by the detached garage yesterday just sitting. He saw me and quickly sauntered off. I called to him and sat down in the middle of the driveway. He looked back, curious as most cats are and looked at me for a minute. Bored by the spectacle of a used up old man sitting in the middle of the road he walked off.
Phase one goes to the cat. It took several months for the neighbors cat to warm up to me.
