Last October, I sat my pumpkins used for Halloween out in the back yd. These were not cut and they stayed intact for at least another month. My son buried them in the garden. Well, these things went crazy and I have 6 pumpkins with the largest weighing 39 pounds. My wife took one last night and made us a pumpkin pie with it. I thought that was really neat.

I carved a jack-O-lantern last year and it was the first time I had actually carved one from a real pumpkin in as many years as It's been since flying U-control. It came out pretty good but I can't find the pictures of it. Oh-well.

Ball canning jars Rene?
I remember my Mom with them in a rack pulling them out of a steaming pot. Almost everyone in my home town had a "Victory Garden" in the 1940's.

Yup, mostly Ball jars, a few Mason and Kerr. Had a difficult time finding a supply of “sealing lids” , finally found them in “bulk” packages at a Amish Store. Only had one that didn’t seal properly. We have a garden that grows green beans, yellow beans and roma tomatoes. We get the bulk of the red tomatoes and peppers from the local farmers stand down the road. It definitely takes some special people to work those fields. We picked the red peppers and jalapeños right off the vine. Took about 45minutes. Can’t imagine working out there all day, everyday....I’d melt. I DID turn on the house AC so we could work comfortably in the kitchen, while it was 85-90 degrees outside.
