Sky Ranger Helicopter Rotor Blades
I have another old toy in need of help. One rotor blade is broken.
My question is: Can I replace the old straight rotor blades with the newer style dropped tip style blades?
They are about the same size length, and the chord is slightly longer on the newer blades.
Thanks
Steve

Re: Sky Ranger Helicopter Rotor Blades
I checked mine and they all are the "dropped tip" version, except for the 020 powered SkyCopter. The SkyCopter has a "thiner" root and is about the same overall length as the dropped tip ones. I think if you replaced them in a set of four to maintain balance it should be fine.

Just one more thing...
I was looking at my other Cox copters and noticed that only this Sky Ranger had this integral tank type engine. The engine is centered in the rotor system which makes the whole rotor system noticeably out of balance. Looking at internet pictures, almost all Cox copters use an offset mount and "postage stamp" type engine.
Is this the correct engine for the Sky Ranger?
Thanks
Steve

Re: Sky Ranger Helicopter Rotor Blades
Yup, the “Sky Ranger” was a tanked Bee engine.

Or view these pictures :

You will have to do some bending to get the alignment needed for proper balance and flight. I don’t recall having any with the NV so close to the wire.
This guy has had this on CL for over a year....don’t know when he’ll realize that no one will pay his asking price!! Yeah, note even his NV is close to the wire!!
