Here is the last "foam" cowl I made (this spring).
Broke the original cowl last fall (Turkey fly 2020 -- week before Thanksgiving at the club field).
That plastic got a little brittle in that cold weather! Learned that a little too late.
The heck with it!
I'll make my own cowl and just use a prop that doesn't pull too many amps.
So, my cowl is made from construction paper and blue foam.
The construction paper is 1/2 the cowl and the foam is the other 1/2.
I glued the construction paper to the outside of the foam then shaped the foam to match the old cowl.
Then removed foam inside to make clearance for the motor.
I used the Foam Armour on the inside and outside of the cowl and then painted it to match the old cowl.
It's not an exact copy but close enough to look good and it is 1/2 oz lighter than the original cowl, so I now use a slightly larger capacity battery to balance it and I now get almost 1/2-hour flights over the old 15 minutes.
The graphics are from Callie Graphics.

That is good looking! Could you provide a few more details on the "foam Armour" material and shaping process? Does the construction paper provide the smooth exterior finish or does the foam sand down to that smooth painted finish?
PS: I googled "foam armor" and got lots of Cos play costumes

Bob, You may consider going to a dollar store or other just looking for the right size bottle end …..Various products…..Maybe one of those hand held trigger pump sprayers that you put your own cleaning stuff in?
I use Duco cement on certain balsa projects and am guessing it may be worth a try on plastics that won’t take anything else….. It’s solvent based and thins with acetone…. Aggressive…..When I get a chance I’ll test some on a water bottle or something similar…I get mine at Ace hardware stores….
Sosam, Nice job on the replica cowling…. Modeler’s tend to be pretty inventive when the need calls for it

Thanks, another option. Boy, I haven't used Duco cement in years, it will be like going home again.
I actually went to Walmart this morning. Forgot to look at bottles........
