My overnight guest
In Vermont for work. After I checked into the hotel I went to the car to grab my bags and took the back entrance. Inside the foyer was this little guy who was looking rough and tired out. I wasn’t sure if it was sick or worn out or diseased. I thought about putting it outside, but it was so cold here. Decided to stuff it into my pocket and take it to my room. I figured I could make a better assessment when things were calmed down.
I looked it over and it appeared to be healthy with good feather growth and some meat on it’s bones, it did have some foot injuries that had scabbed up. I had no food for it so I put some water on it’s beak and it drank. Left it alone for the evening and it slept inside a towel. Morning came and it was a whole new bird so I chased it around the room and took it outside. It pinched my fingers with it’s beak and made some alarming noises so figured it was strong enough to fly away. It did and hopefully it found something to eat. Cute little thing, mean as a rattlesnake once rested. Pretty sure it was a Tufted Titmouse. Cool bird.

Re: My overnight guest
Ron, that is very neat. This summer, I'm sitting on a wall eating my lunch. I was working on a large high rise and out of nowhere a yellow finch lands on my shoulder. The guys start laughing at me and says he wants some of your sandwich. I pull a piece of crust off and sure enough it ate it. I reached over and it climbed up on my hand and I took a picture of it. It finished eating and flew away. I just thought that was the neatest thing. I think the world of birds, amazing creatures.

You're a kind soul Ron. Yes, it was a Tufted Titmouse. They are prevalent at our feeder! It's funny to watch; I put out unsalted peanuts (in the shell) with seed, on a saucer.. and the Titmice take the stem in their beak.. and fly away with the peanut!! A handful doesn't last five minutes before their all gone. They're smart, cunning and STRONG little birds!

Very kind of you…. I’m sure a lot of of others walked by before you rescued it…. I’m sure he was worn out just trying to stay warm…. Kudos

Re: My overnight guest
Great picture of it sticking its head under its wing for a nap.
Your probably about sixty miles away from where I grew up and did approximately the same thing with a Pine Grosbeak in my teens.
We had a Lovebird in Florida, amazing little thing. Used to ride on my mouse clicking finger and peck at its pigtail. It loved the Yorkie but wasn't shared.
I envy your occupation, get to travel the world at the company's expense. Almost like being back in the service.

Good on you Dude!
I'm betting with Eric that this little guy probably suffered a "flight into terrain situation", and your sheltering him in some warmth probably saved his life.
I've got a assortment of birds here on the hill, with my favorite probably being Nuthatches. The call of these little sparrow-sized clowns sound like they're laughing at you---Ha, Ha-Ha! Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha!
In the summer, they'll hang inverted from the phone wire, like a parrot, fussing at me while I drink coffee in my lawn chair. They've also gotten rather bold about demanding their food tray to be filled, even perching on my shop door, and protesting when I let it get low.
Not bad company to have.

Yeah. I've got sort of a "thing" about checking my spelling and punctuation, and clicking "bold" print and knocking the size up one notch helps me see a bit better without going to my reading glasses. Wish I could make this a permanent setting.
Getting old sucks.

There are setting on your computer to make the display larger.
Downside is if you have a small screen, you'll have to use the right and left arrow to see the ends of the display
