New project - Cox AD-4/6 - AKA A1 Skyraider and box
Looking around the loft for something this morning I found this old forgotten empty Skyraider box stuck away in a dark corner. I had the model on a shelf and thought I would combine the two after fixing up the box. Then my memory started clicking in and remembered that I had posted about it here:

Some might remember, over seven years ago.
Anyway, the loft plane isn't the one that came in that box, that plane is in my basement display case.

A warm iron, moisture, some tape and Elmer's glue................

Only took me about three days to put this back together, much of it waiting for glue to dry. A very warm iron and water removed most of the curls and masking tape and Elmers's glue finished the job. Pledge works great to remove dirt and dust and brings out the colors.
The Cox AD-6 is a wonderful model. The plastic seems to be a bit thicker than most and it's nicely designed. The wheels are removable for a more compact shipping box and there are cutouts for the various accessories that I have yet to figure out. I have a soft spot for the AD-6 as I was in VA-35 that flew them. I loved to hear that big radial start up. Same engine that was used in the B-29.

Stuka box might take me a bit longer.

I have become quite interested in box art, a major factor in sales appeal. A whole industry is built up around it. Designers, layout specialists, printers, manufacturers. Think production in the thousands, billions if you're talking cereal boxes. Your Post Toasties in the morning.

Very nice. I am also a fan of the Skyraider. A nice big beautiful plane. Would one day like to see one in person.

Very nice plane.
Somebody offer me a Skyraider. I'm waiting for some pictures.

You reached back quite aways for this one. I was quite proud of me putting that box back together and gathering up the accessories to complete it. But it didn't get much notice.
I have several. I was in a Skyraider squadron (VA-35) back in 1957/58 and used to marvel at the sound that big radial made when it was turned up. By coincidence my son was attached to VA-35 much later when they transitioned to the Intruder.
