Cox gas powered cars Empty Cox gas powered cars

Post  wb0s Thu Jun 02, 2022 7:09 pm

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I am primarily a slot car collector and racer and am very familiar with the Cox slot cars. However today I picked up a box or two of slot car stuff and in one of the boxes was something that totally stumped me! In one of the boxes I found what appears to be a 1/24 scale Cox Pontiac GTO gas powered tether car....I'll complete a closer inspection of the car to see if I can come up with more details. Has anyone seen or heard of one of these? =======Bill

This car is not exactly one you see a lot of. In addition, I believe this is the .020 engine. Cox also made a Camaro on the same chassis and engine. If you have the box and all components, instructions, box etc., this could bring a fair amount of money if you were to sell it.

Thank you for the info! I thought at first maybe it was something someone built themselves, but after looking it over more closely, it is obviously a factory built Cox car. I didn't know Cox made any gas powered cars in 1/24. I thought they were all 1/20. It is in pretty good shape but I don't have the box or any paperwork for it. I will probably just sell it on Ebay as slot cars are my main interest. ======Bill

They were made in late 60s, not many out there. Should do well on eBay if not damaged.

Yes, that looks like it! The one I have does not have the black hood or any numbers. It does not appear to have been used much. It looks undamaged and in really good condition. Thanks for posting the photo! ====Bill
