Re: Enya (engine) of the Month
That's a first for me to see!
A European aftermarket muffler that resembles the one that OS put on their .10R/C of the mid 1960's. You don't see mufflers like that nicely anodized as well, except I think some of the Cox round mufflers were anodized red.
The Tatone .09-.19 Peace Pipe muffler works well on my Enya .09-III TV. I wouldn't put it on a .19, has too small a chamber and exhaust exit hole. Heard horror stories from I think it was the engine guru, late Joe Wagner, about many ruining their older, cross scavenge engines not designed for mufflers, using these Tatone muffler products.

Re: Enya (engine) of the Month
You know back in the day; Japan was copying things from other countries.
I have another Tiger muffler, but I decided to clean it in my sonic tank and all of the "blue" anodizing came off.
This one on my Enya .09-II, I just used hot water, rubber gloves, a hard toothbrush and some dish soap to clean it.
And none of the "blue" anodizing disappeared after the cleaning.
As for the copying stuff from other countries. China has taken over doing that now.

Plagiarism then is perhaps a form of flattery.sosam117 wrote:You know back in the day; Japan was copying things from other countries. [...] As for the copying stuff from other countries. China has taken over doing that now.

Sounds like the anodizing system they used was perhaps most cost effective but not stable. I didn't know that anodizing could be soft and eroded by more aggressive cleaning. Good you pointed that out, helps to know to prevent removing the finish.sosam117 wrote:I have another Tiger muffler, but I decided to clean it in my sonic tank and all of the "blue" anodizing came off.
