Unmarked .40 control line engine - What is it?

Checking my neglected off-beat engines
I came up with this. Unmarked except for 40 on the mount and what looks like 40 SU etched on the backplate. Nice, smooth with lot's of compression. Cogged crank. Heavy as a paper weight.

I have a Quickie 500 r/c racing engine from Fox which is essentially the same design. The only time I saw that exhaust manifold was on a boat version. My new engine uses a ridiculous looking heavy and long header pipe. This particular .40 isn't exactly one you come across a lot of. I know it morphed into the .45 and later a .50. The .45 had a black anodized drive washer.
