F-15 Eagle
F-15 Eagle
A bit out of my usual rut, this one was inspired by an ex-Air Force friend. It's an original design, 17" span, 100 sq. in., 8.1 oz. The color scheme is based on an Air Force Aggressor squadron scheme. I was glad to find this photo, the regular service Eagles are a boring gray.

The stores pylons are useful for a leadout guide.

The business end. A sure start engine with a homemade 1/2 oz. tank.

I tried to maintain the lines of the F-15 as much as possible. The nose had to be shortened a lot for balance, but everything else is pretty close.

That's a nice one, @duaneh, a semi-full body profile, really looks sharp. Love the way you did the external fuel tank, too.

Awesome ! I remember you saying something about an F-15 at the last build you did . Like the way you have incorporated the profile to full body . and the colors are on point too !

She's a beauty!! You've done a great job in keeping the profile looking like the real thing.

Re: F-15 Eagle
Hi duaneh, could you post outlines and build info please ?
Looks are really good model, how well does it fly c/l ?
Slightly larger with aerofoil wing, a slope soarer ?

Re: F-15 Eagle
Well CF, I'm afraid I can't be of much help. This was never intended to be more than a one-off, so no real drawings were made. I simply made enlarged photocopies that were then adhered to the wood and used for cutting patterns. Here is the 3-view I used.

I have flown it, and it flies well. However, the performance is more trainer-like than jet-like. It has too much drag to go fast. Additionally, I used the Cox PT-19 as an example to determine the amount of stabilator movement. The result is that control response is much the same as a PT-19.

Fledgling
That's a pity, so I will enlarge a photocopy and think about making one using your thread info.
A slope soarer would be favourite so will make it out of foam board/cloroplastic( the house for sale sign stuff ) and give it a go eventually.

Re: F-15 Eagle
Hip Pocket Aeronautics in its plans download section (membership required, but free) has a full fuselage control line 21" F-15 Eagle for half-A engines:
HPA: 20.75-in. F-15 Eagle by Richard Schrader

This could be a possible alternative to @duaneh's excellent crafted example,
for those who don't want to "roll" their own plans.
