Ain't that FW-190 just a beautiful thing. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand ten inches away from the screen and took in the first ten minutes. Saved it, will budget time later to watch the whole thing. RX-7 calls.
Even with my compromised hearing and eyesight it was a thrill. I used to say, this or that WW2 era fighter was my favorite. Heck, they all are. From the clumsy Italian Fiat's to the sleek and powerful Spitfires and Mustangs I love them all. But, the FW-190 has always maintained a special spot with me.
Thanks for sharing Kim. No, I hadn't seen that before.
Ok, just a little more. To think that kids were flying those. 19/20/21 year olds. How I envy them. To turn back the clock to 1940 and be of age and ability. Did you notice how the chock guys held up the chocks for the pilot to see...............it's the little things.

Yeah...GOT to love a Butcher Bird! Two or three decades ago, a home builder created a 3/4 manned version, and flew it to Oshkosh, where it was a big hit.
NOW, we got a full-size 190 to watch and a BMW radial to listen to!!!!!!!!![]()

Another builder created a 3/4-size Stuka...would THAT be great to see at 100% scale???!!!!

Testify Brother!!!! I'm there too!!!! The Italian Macchi Folgore's have their appeal also, along with a kinship to the 109's with their similar engines. The German planes tend to have a "Technical Sinisterness" that's hard to explain, vrs the artistic lines of Spitfires and Mustangs and such.

Yes, "Visual Conformation" is a big deal, and the mark of true professionals throughout the crew.
Currently, I've got an E-Powered Butcher Bird, parked in the camper and waiting for its first flight. It'll have to happen over at Cairo's airport, since I want pavement to protect the scale wheels and their delicate gear doors...and also avoid any nose-overs if possible.
It still needs a swastika for its fin and the American logo removed from its gear door, but is otherwise system-tested tested and ready to rock.
There's a guy over in Illinois that wants to fly his Spit or Mustang against me (in a friendly manner, of course), and there WILL be "gun camera" video of that happening!

My "Model Airplane Hero", Dave Platt campaigned one back in the 1960's...with his typical perfectionist touch!

One of my mentors in graduate school was a 21 year old navigator on B-24's flying deep raids into Germany. He said the plane they feared the most was the FW-190.

Forgot to mention that the last "BF-109" in the video is actually a Spanish HA-1112-M1L Buchón...basically a 109 with a Merlin engine in its snout. Thus the reason for much different-looking nose/cowling/radiator set-up.
These are the "German" planes we enjoyed in 1968's United Artist's "Battle of Britain"...along with Dave Platt and his crew blowing up their scale planes!

It would make for an interesting Ringmaster variant.
