Cool! Maybe I'll finally get a chance to see the Lazy Bee.  Now that I only live a 3 hour drive from the Sky Tigers field, I'm finally going to attend a S.M.A.L.L. event this year.  Time to dust off a couple of 1/2A RC planes and get some stick time between now and June.  I haven't flow a RC plane in about 15 years.

Pretty wild Kim. First thought was, what's all that stuff stacked on Kim's Lazy Bee....then - he's not really going to fly it like that? Drag, drag, drag. But yup. Fly it did and having a lot of fun while doing it.

Pretty wild and thanks for sharing.

Kim, love your video of the .20? Lazy Bee diving and air horn blasting reliving the Battle of Britain east of the Ozarks as a Stuka Very Happy with siren blazing away NOT! Laughing

I've never been to SMALL, but have always wanted to participate. When younger, would have tried it with my motorcycle and trailer. The 2 days drive have been a damper.

My wife Rosie, next to the Philippines flag at Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) HQ, Hatfield, AR.

In 2012, we went to CMA's Changing of Colors Rally in that little S-10 pickup, with my 1971 Honda CB100 in the bed. Stayed at their camp grounds in a 3 man tent (misnomer in size - probably for sales, two max Laughing ) with 8x10 screened gazebo over us to keep the dew off. Was going to join a ride through the Catskills Mountains on that small bike. Would have been like the scooter ride on Dumb and Dumber. Laughing Was told that the leader was going to pick up the pace, so after didn't do it. Doh! But, participated in their 400 motorcycle parade through downtown Hatfield on that little bike.  Eyebrows

Might be crazy enough to do it solo to SMALL, before I am too old not to ride. lol!

George, that would be great!  Guaranteed a Big Time!

My first (and really ONLY) 2-wheeld true love...my '74 XLCH.  The butt of many jokes, from its AMF tag, to it's lackluster performance against other brands, it didn't matter.  It never let me down, and I was more than willing to freeze myself to have it in place of a car.

The truly erotic, loping idle and the roar when opened up, was always being imitated but never equaled.  When called "a girl's bike", I simply point to the kick starter that had to be removed in later models to keep the tough bikers from suing Harley when it hurt their limp ankles.

Still got the thing, in all its straight-stock majesty, and may make it road-ready this year...though I won't be making any 400 mile jaunts to see some girl...afraid those days have left me! Old Bugger Old Bugger

Kim, that is a nice classic bike. 1,000 cc's? Data says it was 57 HP, still not shabby. Don't know why some referred to it as the Skirtster. Must be a male intoxication thing with only brute power and size matters. (You have to be intoxicated to believe that nonsense. Laughing )

Wasn't until 2013, bought my 2001 Kawasaki ZG1200 scooter. 96 HP, said to do the quarter mile in 12.5 seconds stock by one of the motor magazines back then. But, the greatest way to gain respect was to ride in black motorcycle clothing. Before, I had a jacket with large orange sections on it. Had some problems with lack of respect by cagers (car drivers). Told some motorcycling friends about it. They told me, "No wonder, they thought you were a traffic cone!" Laughing Gained much greater respect wearing black motorcycle gear. The new visibility color was black. Very Happy

But, back in the early 2000's, had my 1986 Suzuki LS650 Savage, single lung rated at 31 HP. But, could cruise the highways with jaunts to 75 mph where required.

I'd show up at a motorcycle rally 8 hours away from my house on that Savage. Received comments of how I could ride on such a small thing. Then I'd tell them, back in the 1960's and 1970's, a 650 was a big bike.

Oh Yeah,
I've never been a biker, or cared to be...sorta had my own world going on, and to me, a Sportster WAS a big bike, as most guys in my circle were on CB350's and such.

A local guy invited me over to check out his new Gold Wing in late '75 or so.  I'd never seen one in the flesh, and he had it all decked out with saddle bags and such.  I'll admit that I WAS envious of its nice Wind Jammer fairing (a big deal of the time).  Paying for the Sport pretty much had me on the ropes though, and I couldn't afford the snowmobile suit I wanted, much less a $500 fairing.

The guy was puffing pretty good about his Gold Wing though, and finally said, "You ride this one time, and you'll be throwing rocks at that Sportster."  I only barely choked back an outright laugh.  As fancy as his bike might have been, at the time, I saw it as just a powered wheelchair for old people.  The cool thing about being a total zealot (and I was) is that you're pretty immune from insults, and I truly believed that anyone who didn't love Sportsters MUST have had some kind of pervert trauma in their childhood Very Happy Very Happy !

With help from the local Harley dealer (a really good guy), I was eventually able to get a fairly cheap fairing, which made a giant difference in my winter riding.  I had it on the Sport on a winter trip in Feb., '76 when I spotted this Howard DGA, waiting for the return of its engine after an emergency landing on Interstate 70.  We saw a lot of things together.

Flash-Back to S.M.A.L.L. 2019. 1_234

So, when you're this close to a machine, and it's the only one you own (or care to) it'd be really difficult to be unhappy with it.

I got the old dog cranked up last year, and made video of it parked in the yard, and AM as surprised and happy as I sound.  Got a new headlight for it and some other stuff, but got to replace the dry-cracked tires.  There's no explaining it, or need to.
My old pal lives.

Actually, being a biker meant you simply rode motorcycles. By that definition, I'd say you were a bike, Kim.

For a time, I was riding one back and forth to work, perhaps the best way to get comfortable. One then really gets used to how it handles in all conditions. The weekend warrior riding just doesn't give one the experience necessary to get that familiar.

On Okinawa, I found that the limestone paved roads really became slick when it rained. Plus, I had the extra hard rubber cheaper Kenda Challenger tire on my rear axle. (I changed out the front with a Pirelli 66 Route, excellent rain tire.) The Kenda was a great mileage tire, but was very spooky, slippery when wet. I was able to scratch in 3rd gear on that Savage there in a rain.

The motorcycle is kind of nice to run on errands, all sorts of little trips one can leave the cage at home. Stereo
