Nice. Facebook market place, flea market, friend...........?
What are your plans for them? I like it when things like that follow me home.

Interesting, plus you gained a Cox .049 beam motor mount, too. Looks like someone was getting around to recovering at one time. Nice find, wouldn't take much to get those two back in the air!

Good Deal ! The Kittens are a nice pair of 1/2 A combat planes . I have 2 myself they could stand some repair but flyable . The EconoKote looks good how did it go on for you ? I have read that it doesn't hold up to good to fuel .

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
I used a good bit of Econokote on my R/C planes some time back, plus my Ringmaster Jr.'s wing was covered in it initially. Didn't seem to be a problem, but I religiously wiped down the aircraft with Fantastic cleaner spray of fuel residue, before heading home. I never noticed that. Cleaning had to be religiously done, especially if one used one of the so-called fuel proof foam safe spray paints.getback wrote:Good Deal ! The Kittens are a nice pair of 1/2 A combat planes . May be if someone puts their planes away dirty, could be the case. I guess the slobber could loosen the Econokote glue.

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Thanks for the heads up on the Econogoop! Yeah it goes on..but gets cruddy/gummy/melty when I tried to get it tucked into the tight corners around the engine mount..couple layers later, called it fuelproof enuf. Trying hard not to become smitten with this kitten.. If I make it a couple laps that don't end in a figure 9, I just might do surgery on it and put one of my metal bellcranks in it.. but I think I might be in for a quick dirt lesson, I always wanted a wing, this is the perfect chance to try one relatively pain free!

Sounds good no pain no gain LOL I read it as for foam and wood surfaces and LOW heat was used to apply , May have had it turned to hot i know i would have ! Never used the stuff

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Hi mitch,
I like, 'Smitten with this Kitten'
Back in the day, they were 'twitchy' as hell...
But, we used the widest line spacing on our handles. (for sheet wings)
Try less handle spacing.
Also, 10 degrees up/down elevator is plenty...
Your results may vary, (CG is important)
Also,
The Econocote I have tried is like the old 'Soalarfilm' that is no longer made.
Sealed every seam with CA, no problems so far.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
They were twitchy because of the control horn Top Flite provided. It needs to be taller and the twitchiness goes away. The elevator is moving far more than really needed.

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
I see what Ken was talking about. The regular half-A horns are smaller. These were fine for sport aircraft with greater distance from wing to elevator. They with the Kitten's moving elevator closely coupled with the short fuselage booms in relation to wing makes these smaller less suitable. The larger horns unfortunately have larger holes, which one would have to put perhaps a piece of heat shrink tubing or small wiring insulation to remove the slop.
Some of the modern R/C horn hardware may have the smaller holes but greater length to reduce moment, perhaps a better replacement short of rolling your own horns, IMO.

Now that looks like real serious business, @Michpatriot. (Nice clean, professionally laid out work also. ) I've never messed with pressure systems, nor combat. Looks like that dual bypass ported postage stamp engine with high compression Tee Dee head will really move out.

Combat kitten looks really good and ready for some streamer chomping . The fuel pinch off is just brilliant. I like it.

Re: Couple Kittens followed me home..
Good deal Getback, I couldn't come to grips with the hemotweezrs either..I had a storm of thinkin to get the final idea ironed out, many ideas came and went, I had one similar given to me but it lacked the button to "blip" and prime with..The one I started with is from the F2d circles my friend is into..it worked but you still had to fiddle too much..
