Thought I had a hoarding problem.
Well, maybe I do, but we're just in the process of clearing out my wife's uncle's house as he has gone into care and can't take any of his "stuff". Managed to pick up the second load today. This "Stuff" is thousands of dollars worth of home HiFi gear that he has accumulated over the years. Some a little ordinary, but much of it is high end stuff and I have the job of trying to move it on and get a reasonable price for it. Mainly 1990s Japanese gear. Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, Rotes, Marantz, Pioneer, several professional grade turntables, amps (a couple so heavy I can hardly lift), CD players, Receivers, cassette decks, blue-ray players. Hundreds of records, cassettes and CDs. 33s, 78s and 45s. Sooo much stuff. This is gonna take me a while.
Some of the load(s).

An audiophiles dream Rod. You should have no problem getting them into appreciative hands.
Sorry about your wife's uncle. Most of the time it's for the best, but it is a milestone that one day we will all face.

Maybe not so easy Bob. I've spoken to some vintage HiFi traders and collectors and it seems that there's more of this stuff out there than people really want. I guess some of it would have a nostalgia element to it, but mostly the stereo or even four channel equipment is seen as redundant as most people are into surround sound now. I think there are maybe a couple of 5.1 surround items there.
If I can't get any interest from local buyers I'll have to resort to listing them for on-line auction, which will be a pain. I'm not willing to post this sort of thing, so it will need to be pick-up only, which will cut out even more potential buyers. I'd like to get it all sorted while Colin is still with us. Then I can just hand him the money. If we lose him earlier than expected, then I'll need to deal with the executor of the estate who I'm sure will be in a hurry to sort everything out. That'll be even more pressure.
Sorry folks, all 240 Volt stuff. It'll all be staying local.
Roddy's the loudspeaker man. Maybe he can give me some clues about what I've got. I think there's four pairs of "decent" speakers.

You would be astounded by the amount of really good stuff that ends up in the electronic recycling bin where I live. You will have a hard time even giving most of this stuff away.

Yeah......
Shows how out of step I am......(and lovin' it!)
I have a nice audio system Sony CD, Teac, Bose - but what I play is my daughter-in-laws turn table spinning vinyl. Brings me back to our old Curtis-Mathis console of the 60's.
Dig down in that stack and you'll find Fleetwood Mac and many others of the period. But Mireille Mathieu rules.
