Re: Engine choice
You'll enjoy flying the larger .35 powered planes with 400 sq. in. wing area or more on 50 to 65 foot lines. They do 5 second laps, but being heavier with a little more tug on the lines, can handle greater wind speeds than the half-A's. Plus, you'll experience s smoothness in flight control plus a longer duration glide once engine cuts.1975 control line guy wrote:Thanks, I will give the Testors stunt prop a try next time with a piece of fuel line bushing. When your used to a 5-6 second rotation and then your first 3.5 second rotation takes you by surprise it can be unnerving It was also my first time flying under the lights last night too.
John has an older Fox Stunt .35 mated to a 42 inch span Ringmaster. He's allowed me to fly it, uses it to teach others. Once you try it, you'll wonder why you didn't do that earlier.
The half-A's are great, I learned on them. They gave me the most bang for the buck early on. But things get even better with the bigger ones.
It's a whole new world of fun.

Swordsman and Testors stunt prop
The Testors 4.5 x 3 stunt prop slowed the rotation down a little to where I can manage, and the plane is responsive. I will keep this arrangement and work on my pilot skills
Re: Engine choice

Line Length
049kid,
Thanks for asking
I used 10 pound test spider wire high visible yellow 30 feet from the wing tip leads to the handle. I also used a stock COX CL handle, but I am going to switch to either a small Hot Rock E-Z-JUST or Sullivan insta-just handle for more control.
I had a lot of fun being able to get this on video, thank you for watching

I like it!... Nice sound and looks like a no-damage landing. All ready for next time. Work up to some really tall wing-overs then more.....Is the asphalt so rough that you need a runway?

Swordsman stunts
Rob,
It is going to be a process. I have more 1/2A profile planes ready for engines if anything goes south. Then, I have some 1/2A built up wing planes also ready for engines. And then, I have some really nice and bigger planes waiting for me.
The runway is for the SB-X, even with the new prop it needs that much runway for those little wheels to clear the pavement.

CLG,
Look near the bottom for the RSM Renger handle (the orange one).
