For a personal copy on your PC (laptop or desktop), use a desktop version of browser Firefox. Install extension Video DownloadHelper. (Ignore the Spanish, I have my system set to the Spanish language. )Kim wrote:Got a video by way of Facebook, but haven't figured out how to copy it here.
For on-line views, unfortunately, this next method does not work for Facebook. (I am not a member nor ever plan to be. )
It can capture videos from many websites easily. For CEF on-line viewing, you can refer to a direct video link from other sites not {YouTube}, use the Icon to the left of it, {Embed content}. Works for "X" Twitter, Vimeo, etc.

Re: Rusty's Shoestring at the NATS
Will Davis was a part of the club Rusty was a member of. Will and his family are totally devoted to the control line hobby. Rusty was also writing the monthly news for the folks in North Carolina. Rusty made mention of his friend Wayne many times on here as well. I hope Wayne was also able to have some handle time with Rusty's planes. Rusty was gifted a plane when he attended Huntersville contest. I could be incorrect but I think the plane was sent back to the club in NJ. I think they also mentioned of a tribute to Rusty.
Rusty was flying one afternoon after just recovering from major back pains. At this point, he was using a walker to assist his walking. He called me on a Saturday afternoon and told me that during his attempted flight, he fell and several bones broke. I believe his pelvis and also vertebrae were seriously compromised. He told me that pain lets him know he's still living. He was just one tough bugger.

Ken, thanks for a little background on Rusty and his bigger than life character. He certainly was an inspiration on this engines and models forum.
I got a humorous charge out of reviewing your reply here made 6 years ago in a thread I started:

I think there is quite a lot of truth in what you stated.Ken Cook wrote:A few of us were using the {AP} Yellow Jacket .15 for .15 combat. That was a few wasted weekends. The .15 didn't quite develop the rpm's we seeked vs the OS or Norvel .15. We had two break the crankshafts and that was the nail in the coffin. My engine stayed together and I ended up selling the big 3 as a lot on Ebay last year. The .061, .09, .15. Of the 3 the .061 was a real toilet, that engine cost me more in plugs than I paid for the engine itself. It never ran as well as a real Norvel , but for some reason I tinkered and tinkered.
This is the curse of the control line pilot. You have cheap and then you have CONTROL LINE CHEAP. If newspapers could fly, we would keep flying it until the ink wore off.
Larry Renger bragged about it for stunt and how it utilized a bronze bushing for the crank. Mine wore out by the time I got it running decent enough. I had a new bushing installed in the case and that one is still with me.

I didn't know it had happened either, Eric. It just popped up on my FB account. Not too surprising, considering Rusty's effect on everybody that knew him.
I think Ron might be The Keeper of the Engines, but not sure.
